"Hey! Are you ready to go Kaylee?" Ella asked in her sweet tone. Kaylee looked from the TV to Ella. She wore skinny jeans with a cute red flowing top. Her auburn hair was in waves and her eye shadow displayed her deep brown eyes perfectly. Kaylee nodded, flipping off the TV and sliding on her dirty black converse. As the two girls walked out the house, Kaylee stopped realizing they were heading to Ella's VW Bug parked on the road.

"Do we really have to take this little car? Couldn't we take my truck?" Kaylee whined. Ella rolled her eyes playfully, squeezing her hand. "We're headed to hang out with the devil anyway. What does it matter what car we take?"

Kaylee sighed "Fine. But I still hate your car," and climbed into the Bug.

"Oh my gosh!" squealed Rachel running up to Ella, hugging her. Rachel had texted Ella earlier wanting to hang out at the mall. "Ella we need to grab some lunch then hit up the Christmas Eve eve sales! Who would've thought they would have sales today!?" Rachel spoke ninety to nothing, hardly stopping for air. Ella nodded with a grin from ear to ear, like Rachel, her perfect white teeth displayed.

Kaylee stood behind Ella waiting for her monster of a friend to leave. Rachel continued to babble at a high speed rate to Ella as Kaylee examined her. That short skirt was tight and made Kaylee wrinkle her nose. Slut. She thought, Its cold out and still she can not seem to find pants! Finally, Rachel spoke to her. "Oh, uh, I guess you could tag along too." Kaylee smiled and sarcastically replied "Oh, thanks so much!" Rachel rolled her eyes flipping her dyed blond hair over her shoulder and pranced to get food.

Kaylee let out a groan of irritation. "I know." Ella said looking guilty. They'd talked about how much they hated Rachel, but despite all the slander, Ella remained friends with the back stabbing bitch. Those sorry eyes made Kaylle's heart ache. She touched Ella's shoulder slowly, daring to run it down her arm and into her hand. Ella laced fingers with Kaylee's as they walked to a food shack in the food court.

Kaylee ordered her food first. Then as Ella ordered her food, the teenage boy behind the counter seemed to get twice as sweet. His hungry eyes ran over Ella, but she didn't seem to notice. Kaylee tried to ignore him, her hands clentched by her side. As the boy handed Ella the tray he mumbled to her, asking for her number.

"Oh, well sorry I'm not single." Ella said, stumbling over her words.

"Who is the lucky guy?" The boy asked grinning as if he still had a shot. Unable to resist, Kaylee walked behind Ella, wrapping her hands around Ella's waist and kissing her cheek. The boy's mouth dropped open and his face flushed.

"Answer your question?" Kaylee sneered, her dark straight hair falling into her face. Before he could respond, the girls were walking away giggling. After searching Ella and Kaylee dash to an open table in the crowded mall. Once seated, Ella's gentle hand found Kaylee's.

"Its almost Christmas." Ella said shyly, her cheeks growing pink. Kaylee nodded, looking at their intertwined fingers. When she met Ella, she never thought she'd be able to do this. She was sure Ella was too good for her.

"You know what that means, right?" She spoke with a cute smile, her cheeks now red. Kaylee looked into her brown eyes, completely blown away she had someone as perfect as Ella to share this holiday with. "Our one year anniversary." Kaylee said unable to hide her smile.

They ate, occasionally catching the other looking at her. But then Kaylee remembered and her grin faded. "Why can't we tell your monster of a friend Rachel baby?" Kaylee muttered, a little irritated at the fact Ella had hidden her for almost a year now. "I will." Ella said, pushing her food away. Guilt killed her appetite. "When?" Kaylee snapped and instantly felt a ping of hurt when she saw her girlfriend's body jump. "Soon." Ella whispered "You know she's homophobic. Its harder than you think. But, I will tell her soon."

"Promise me." Kaylee pleaded. Just as Ella opened her mouth Rachel walked up screeching. "That line was too long! I don't need the calories anyway." Ella quickly snapped her hand into her lap. Kaylee creased her lips in irritation. There was a small silence as if Rachel had caught Ella's hand in Kaylee's. But, the clever Ella said to her distract-able friend "Shopping?" Rachel's eyes lit up and she drug Ella out of her seat, not waiting for Kaylee.
