Prologue

30 years ago

"Hades...I'm leaving you." Persephone's voice rings out through the room. Hera stood with her husband Zeus while they watch this mess over goes. Aphrodite looks at her nails listening in on the commotion. Apollo and Artemis playing chest while Hermes sits watching the twins.

Demeter sits on the couch looking at Hades with sadness that her daughter is breaking the poor guys heart. When they say Hades cannot love, they thought wrong.

Poseidon and Hephaestus watching the sports but the sound is on mute. Ares, Athena, Hestia, and Dionysus sit on the window bench watching a marriage go down.

"What do you mean Persephone?" Hades looks up and see his beautiful wife looking emotionless.

"It means that I want to die. It means that I don't love you anymore. It means I fell in love with someone else." Persephone yells out and runs her hand through her hair.

"When was this?" Hades puts his papers down and stood up stuffing his hands into his pockets.

"When I was gone half a year up on earth. I cannot keep living in the dark and only see the sun for six months. I want to at least see it all year long, that's what I thought at first before I met Kyle."

"You fell in love with a mortal?" Demeter spoke out. Looking at her daughter with disappointment.

"Yes mother I did. Because I don't know who could love this...this heartless man." Hera looks at Hades with pity as Zeus keeps quiet holding his wife close to him.

"If that's what you want...then I won't stop you." Hades looked at Persephone one last time, his heart cracking a bit before he turns and walks out the door. Behind him everyone starts arguing but Hades walks through the castle trying to control his heartbreak. A bark comes down the hall and Hades let a smile on his face. Cerberus runs and lets out a whine.

"Hey boy. Its fine, it'll only be us from now on." He pet his faithful dog heads as he ignore his heart.

"Hades...I'm so sorry about my daughter. I know how much you love her--"

"It's fine Demeter. It's alright...they say follow your heart. It seems like her wants someone else, I only want her to be free and nothing else."

"Zeus is letting Persephone turn mortal to live with that man she fell in love with. Could you handle this?"

"If it makes her happy yes." Hades nod his head yes.

"Don't worry someone will love you better. I promise." Demeter smiles and rubs his face.

"Thank you Demeter." Hades whisper and looks down. His heart start building walls up to protect himself, to not let anyone hurt him like Persephone did. But the question is...can he really love someone else beside his now ex-wife?

Chapter One- When two worlds collide

Present

Laying under the shade while the sun shines brightly down on New York City. I watch kids play, old couples strolling in the park, dogs barking, birds chirping, and from a far the sound of traffic. My mother has a book in her hand as she hums to a song that she probably heard somewhere.
