As she cried, she gently laid her head upon his pillow. Still staring out into the dark night with the moon shining brightly. She began to speak to him, which she often did, whether he could hear her or not, she felt comforted.

"I miss you, Nicolas." Her old voice trembled. "I have thought about you every day at least a hundred times. Ever since you left me my heart has hurt. It's a feeling deep inside of me in which I cannot explain, but my heart, well it belongs to you. So in a way, maybe you had taken a bit of my heart with you. Why did you have to leave me? I'm so alone. I know that I still have our babies, but they are so busy now, between their children and their work and their husbands and wives. I couldn't ask them to put their lives on hold for their mother. Their mother is supposed to do that for them. I miss you so much. You taught me how to love, and without you, I don't know what to do with myself. It's been 13 years, yet I still feel this way. I just want you to be here and tell me that everything will be okay, that you will hold me again like you used to. Oh Nicolas, you had such a wonderful soul. Nicolas, my heart hurts with a passion tonight. Why tonight? I don't know. But all I can tell you is that I miss you, with all of my being I miss you. And I love you, forever and always." She whispered, sobbing now. Her eyes eventually tired as she cried herself to sleep.

She was awoken what seemed like a moment later. As her eyes opened, she seen the moon light flooding through the doorway, but someone stood there in the wind on the balcony. She knew his silhouette anywhere. Her heart seemed to stop.

"Nicolas?" She asked, her eyes watery again. She got up and ran to the man on her balcony. When she reached the door way, the wind picked up and blew her white hair, and there in the moonlight, she caught the sight of her true love. She cried.

"Oh Nicolas!" She spoke as she embraced him. He let out his gentle laugh and his arms held her tightly. His hand stroked her hair. She kissed him, she kissed him with a passion of 13 years of departure. As she pulled away she looked into his eyes, and sure enough his eyes were the same as she had last saw him, but brighter, and filled with life.

"But Nicolas, how are you here?" She asked, the tears still dripping from her face.

"Well Cara, I'm here to take you home." He whispered.

"Take me home? But I am home. And you- well you're home too.. But you... But you died..." She spoke searching her thoughts trying to find an explanation for his presence, and finding none, becoming confused. Her eyes looked into his again.

"No Cara, home..." He whispered. Then it clicked. Home. Heaven. Her eyes teared again.

"I-I'm going home? But- but the children, and-and..." She spoke desperately.

"The children will be alright Cara, they will be okay. They're grown now, with children of their own, they don't need us anymore." He spoke as he tried to calm her nerves. Her Teary eyes looked into his.

"Nicolas, am I dying?" She asked quietly. He spoke nothing, only nodded. He knew it would hurt her, and so he tried to be gentle. She looked back to her bed, to find her asleep. "A-am I dead.. Now?" She asked in a whisper. He nodded once more. She took a deep breath. "And I can be with you now?" She asked as another gust of wind came, blowing her hair.

"Forever and always, Cara Mia." He whispered, and like that, they seemed to vanish in the wind. Together.

Forever.. and always.
