Sister's banging on the piano

In the old house by the sea

The wind outside is howling

And the girls are in full swing

Running in their socks

Sliding on the floor

Some are leaping high

Others dancing low

A jitterbugging frenzy

That never seems to slow

Doing the Chopsticks Waltz

The awning outside's flapping

Keeping time with the worn screen door

Mom has driven into town

To do some kind of chore

Grandma's trunk with treasures

Emptied on the rug

Pins and hats from long ago

Colored scarves from Mexico

An orange dress of calico

With feathered boas, quickly donned

Giggles, shrieks and smiles run free

Marshmallow cocoa and sticky treats

Insure the din stays sugar sweet

From the back of the sofa, Tiger yawns

And thumps his tail (not quite with the beat)

Little Egypt's at it again

Watch the magic in her feet

'Those beads go purr-fect with the red high heels!'

'Louder, faster, louder, faster!'

Sister's banging on the piano

In the old house by the sea

The wind outside is howling

As sunlight paints the glee

The girls are in rare form

For once ignoring faults

Each one agrees most affably

She loves the Chopsticks Waltz
