Chapter 1
As the sun peeked over the horizon I made my way out of the changing rooms and over to the pool. I love being the first one here in the morning; the first one to disturb the smooth mirror like pool. As I jumped onto the starting platform I braced myself slightly before diving head first into the cold water, breaking the surface and wallowing in the feeling as the cool water passed over the surface of my body enclosing over my feet. I glided below the surface before breaking up through it once again. Setting my mind, I began to stroke through the water pushing myself into a rhythm as my muscles adjusted to the fresh burn beginning in them. This was my quiet time, the place I did my best, uninterrupted thinking. The time when I could clear my mind of all my troubles before setting out into a new day. Just as I was about to make my turn and commence my return lap, a sharp piercing whistle echoed and ripped through my thoughts bringing me to an abrupt stop, as I looked around to find the source of the disturbance.
'That dive was too deep, get out and do it again' a voice shouted from behind me. Following the sound of the voice, I turned and froze, immediately having to tread water to prevent myself from drowning. There stood the most gorgeous man ever to grace the earth with his presence. His swimming trunks hung from his hips as he stood with his hands on them, my eyes travelled the defined 'v' that ran from his hips to his... snapping my eyes up, I follow up his finely chiselled rock hard abs over his chest and along his neck, time slowed as I took in his strong jaw line, frowning but seductive lips, up over his nose and gasped, taking in water as my eyes locked on his. Striking emerald eyes stared back at me looking through his near black hair that flicked just past his eyes. He stood about 6'2, with a brilliant tan running over his mouth watering features, sending a shiver throughout my body.
I physically shook myself out of my stupor and went to continue my lap. He was one of those men that you pass in the street, notice, and have to do a double take to make sure your eyes are not deceiving you. The sharp whistle pierced through the air again but I ignored it this time and pushed him to the back of my mind as I drove myself forward. Again the whistle echoed through the air and my thoughts, pulling me to a stop.
'I'm not going to tell you again, get out and do it again' he yelled. Frowning, I looked around me but the pool was empty.
'Excuse me?'
'Are you deaf or just stupid?'
'But I...'
'Move your ass' he barked. Not sure what else to do I made my way to the edge of the pool and pulled myself out and walked over to the starting platform again.
'I haven't got all day, and where is your cap?'
'I don't usually...' I started again.
'Just forget it now, make sure you have one tomorrow. Now dive!'
'Why are you...'
'Dive!' He demanded losing patience. Shaking my head in confusion I positioned myself and dove into the pool.
Before I could continue further he blew his whistle and I stopped.
'I can see we are going to have a very long season. Where the hell did you learn to dive? Kindergarten? You're supposed to skim just beneath the surface not along the bottom, now get out and do it again, the right way.'
'Mmmm, I don't usually ...'
'Listen sweetheart, I really don't care what your previous Coach taught you, I'm your coach now and you'll learn to do it the right way.' He frowned back at me with disapproval as the pieces clicked into place. He's mistaken me for one of the swim team members. Slightly flattered I smiled back at him.
'Sorry Sir but you have mistaken...'
'I don't want to hear it, just get out the god damn pool and start again.' I was alongside the pool by now and quickly pulled myself out to try and explain it to him.
'Sir you are not my...'
He grabbed my arm and pulled me towards the starting platform effectively cutting off my word as the electricity passed between us at his touch. 'Stop whining and dive.' He man handled me onto the platform and gave me a hard stare. Without having much other choice and with anger at him starting to build up in me, I dived as instructed and pulled myself to a stop.
