I re-sat the Specialist Math test and aced it.

I challenged Mr. Collins to give me only 10 minutes to complete the stupid test, plus have him sit right in front of me while I worked out every single question so he wouldn’t even dare to think I was cheating.

Mr. Collins was beyond impressed, to say the least.

I walked out of the classroom with a content smile on my face. The Summer holidays were only 2 days away, and my mum had called me late last night, saying that her and my dad would be staying in Cambodia for an extra two weeks, meaning I was going to be a guest at Reece’s house for longer than planned.

I was way too happy about that fact than necessary.

As I passed the hallways, I recognized Dennis from the back, searching for something in his locker. He looked so lost in thought as he searched through his bag, that he didn’t notice me creeping up behind him.

“Boo.”

The next thing I knew, I was shoved hard against the locker with a strong arm cutting the airflow in my throat.

“Oh, Shit!” Dennis withdrew away instantly, as I began coughing aggressively, “Chloe, I’m so sorry! I didn’t think it was you! I’m so sorry! It was out of instinct! Are you okay?”

“Your instincts are deadly.” I choked out, trying to breathe normally again.

Suddenly I was pulled into his arm as he hugged me tightly, “I am so sorry Chloe, I would never hurt you on purpose. I’m so, so sorry!”

I returned the hug and smiled at how adorable he was, “It’s okay,” I coughed again, “I’m fine, really.”

He pulled back and ran his fingers through his hair awkwardly, “I’m so sorry, there’s gotta be something I can do to make it up to you.”

I looked at him curiously.

Then I smirked, completely forgetting about my near-death experience.

“Actually, there is something you could do, to make me fully forgive you and all…” I trailed, getting lost in thought. This is so easy. Too easy.

“Your face looks kinda scary right now…”

I placed a hand on his shoulder, “Are you free this Friday?”

His warm brown eyes looked perplexed, “Um, yeah, I guess?”

“Good.” I smiled brightly, “The Pizza Palace, 6 o’clock.

“What?”

“Wear a V-neck, preferably grey or blue.” I said, remembering Allie’s secret turn-ons in a guy.

“A V-neck?”

“It’s sexy.” I told him bluntly. “And order a large Margarita to share.”

“Chloe-”

I cut him off, “Dennis, I need you to go on a date with my best friend.”

His eyes widened in fear, “You want me to go on a date with Charlie?!”

“What! No!” I cried, violently shaking my head as a disturbing image popped into my head. “I need you to take my other best friend, Allie Harper, out to dinner.”

“Are you trying to set me up?”

“No, I’m trying to set her up.” There’s a difference.
