The mist lay thick against the winter's breeze, blowing my midnight black hair across my face, at points I felt like a bird, to be precise I felt like a beautiful raven about to spread out my wings and fly away. But that would never happen...
Squinting through the fog I sighed, where is everyone I groaned inwardly. I was lost in what seemed like a deserted barren town, my carers, my family/friends long gone, disappeared into the moonlit mist that now ebedded me into darkness.
I demanded my body to move as I lifted up my legs and pushed off the ground running as fast as my legs would take me. I followed various mixes of scents in the air, hopefully they would lead me to civilisation and not just empty foggy fields in the middle of no-where.Out of the corner of my eye I caught a glimpse of a dark shadow merging in with the sky, I stopped abruptly in my tracks to see a bloody crimson sky. Shadows danced around above my head calling to me softly like the whispers of the wind. I covered my eyes wishing it all away. Snap...
I shot my eyes open following the sound, my eyes stopped on a black cloaked figure I tried to step back but his black souless eyes drilled me to the spot. The figure was surrounded in darkness making it hard to see, I strained my eyes watching the figures every move. It took a step forward stepping into the crimson light shining from the sky like a spotlight. I tried moving and running away but it was impossible, I glanced up to find a man staring intently at me. His arms were hidden behind his back making me nervous, he suddenly drew out a gun to my head. I gasped as he loaded it, it had an amazing antique design carved into it. A rose entwining around the handle and gleaming red like the sky above. Then he shot... that's when I woke up...
Eerie sounds echoed around me, screaming in my ears repeatingly as sweat trickled down my forehead, dripping down my bare chest or was it sweat? I couldn't see through the cloak of darkness surrounding me. This is not how I pictured death I thought to myself. I was snapped out of my thoughts by an unearthly sound, I tried to pinpoint it but found I was still alone. I realized I was making that sound which pierced my soul as I gasped for air...
Jumping out of bed I lunged forward falling onto a hard cold surface, I pried my eyes open to find myself in my room, home I thought. Pulling my unwilling frame up I took small baby sized steps towards my bedroom door. I trembled as a shiver ran down my spine, I turned around to find an eerie figure standing before my balcony. I ran as I barged my bedroom door open dragging my crippled figure along the pitch black corridor. I reached my hands out and clasped something cold as it nipped at my skin, I shoved it...
I felt like I was falling as pain vibrated through my body like torture, I willed my body to move a few steps. I stood in front of my bathroom mirror looking at myself intently, I looked dreadful like something out of a horror movie. A surge of pain shot through my skull as I slipped into the bath tub turning on the hot water tap. My body convulsed as the bath tub started to fill, I slashed out trying to grab hold of anything. The man from my dream/ nightmare appeared before me smiling like a cheshire cat. I reached out to him as he took my hand, I felt a searing pain explode. I looked up to find the figure gone leaving me alone. Why had no-one come to save me? Why was I alone? Oh now I remember my dad and step- mum were over in Florida, they were supposed to be back tonight I thought feeling happy. But my happiness sank as I glanced down to my hand to find the imprint of an entwining rose. I became dizzy as I fell back and relaxed into the rising water trying to take my mind away from the pain.
I gazed out of the window wondering where the bright moon had gone, where the dazzling stars had gone. My heart throbbed in my chest remembering my mother's final words 'the moon and stars light the way and when you look upon them it will show you that I am always watching over you no matter what'. A silent tear trickled down my cheek as I closed my eyes wishing my life away...
