Almost Lovers (2)

After throwing on some tights and sliding down the railing I reached the kitchen, where I saw Jeremy starting to pull out the equipment needed for pancakes; this was standard procedure whenever he was over. As I started getting the ingredients from the cupboards, my 12-year-old brother Ethan came bounding down the stairs. He had probably heard the banging around down here. Ethan was a quiet and shy kid, but when Jeremy was over he never seemed to be able to shut up. That was most likely due to the fact that my parents were never around, and he rarely had a male figure to spend time with besides Jeremy.

"Hey Jeremy! What are you doing over here so early?" Ethan asked as soon as he reached the kitchen wiping the sleep from his eyes, smiling hugely. He always seemed in high spirits when Jeremy was over.

Jeremy glanced my way questioning whether or not to tell Ethan he had spent the night. We had always kept his late night sleepovers a secret unless it was planned, but usually Ethan wasn't awake so early. Ethan wouldn't be happy if we excluded him, but Jeremy never seemed to mind having him tag along and I was happy as long as Ethan was, so he was usually with us.

I quickly gave a shake of my head while Ethan was pulling out a chair at the table. "Woke up early and thought I'd come hang for a bit," Jeremy replied slyly but Ethan wasn't paying attention anymore. He was too focused on the comic book he had pulled off the shelf behind the table. I silently shook with laughter. Ethan was such a bookworm sometimes.

Once Jeremy and I finished preparing the pancakes, we walked over to the table and sat down. Ethan swiftly closed the comic book and grabbed five pancakes.

"You sure you gonna be able to finish all those pancakes young man?" I asked Ethan scoldingly. I mean, how could someone finish that many pancakes? I made sure I made the pancakes large!

Jeremy glanced my way giving me a look that clearly conveyed, 'Just shut up and let the boy eat.' I smiled at how easy it was to read him as I rolled my eyes. I'd have to get back at him later for bossing me around. Ethan seemed completely oblivious to us and carried on eating his pancakes. He must be really hungry this morning.

"Did you eat anything last night Ethan? You look like you're about to devour the table next." I told him smiling. He just gave a half-shrug-half-nod-thing and carried on eating.

I quietly got up from the table unnoticed and starting walking towards the sink to start doing the dishes. Jeremy seemed to notice after he heard me start to fill the sink with dish-soap and water and asked, "Aren't you eating anything?"

"I'm not hungry," I tried to shrug nonchalantly as if it was no-big-deal, but truthfully I hadn't been hungry at all lately and I only ate small proportions when I did eat. It wasn't like I was deliberately trying to starve myself, or as if I thought I needed to loose weight. I actually thought I was perfectly fit, I was just never hungry.

"If you don't start eating more often you're going to waste away to nothing Hales. Come sit down and eat some pancakes before I come and force them down your throat." He replied back playfully with a raised eyebrow, but you could see the worry in his eyes. I rolled my eyes in response.

He got up slowly, smiling and pushed his chair back making a screeching noise for dramatic effect. That got Ethan's attention. He was now looking our way with questioning eyes. Jeremy started stalking towards me, which I reacted to by taking a step back, but instantly I realized I should have been running. I had backed up into the sink and now I couldn't take my eyes off of him in case he did something while I turned around. I would just have to react quickly to whatever he dished out to me. Suddenly he was right in front of me in the blink of an eye. I must have been in la-la-land. He continued to stare at me while I looked at him with worried eyes. Too quick for me to comprehend what he was doing, he grabbed me around my waist and threw me over his shoulder and started walking.

"Let me down! Let me down! Let me down!" I practically squealed as I giggled uncontrollably. I felt the blood start rushing to my face as he proceeded walking throughout the house. I started lightly pounding my fists on his muscular back in an attempt to get my feet safely back on the ground, but he just laughed a beautiful laugh at my antics to get him to release me. It wasn't as if I didn't want his arms around me. I did, I just didn't want whatever he had planned for me.

"Seriously sweet-cheeks I would save my energy if I were you. I'm not letting you down." He told me sweetly then laughed. You could hear the false innocence in his voice.

"Ugh! You know I hate it when people give someone 'pet names' or 'retarded nicknames' like that. Why must you torture me so?" I said dramatically.

By then we were at the sliding glass door that led to my backyard. He pushed the door open and gracefully walked outside before replying, "You know you love me for it babe!" He laughed loudly again.

I screamed in frustration before starting to smack his butt over and over again thinking that it would eventually start to hurt, but he never stopped his descent down the decks stairs.

"Honey buns, you better stop that soon." He told me calmly. I could hear the smile in his voice though.

"And why is that, buttmuncher?" I said in the whiniest voice I could.

"I like it too much."

That shut me up completely and had me halting in my actions almost instantaneously. Not that I didn't like touching him in the buttocks. I just didn't want him to see any other reaction to that false statement. He was laughing really hard now. Ergh the ass hole!

"Shut up before I pants you mister!" I told him sternly but playfully.

"Oh yeah?"

"Ye-," I started to say before he threw me into the pool in the backyard. It was freaking freezing. Which only makes sense, since it IS the middle of winter. By the time my head reached the surface my teeth were chattering. And when I looked over at Jeremy he was bent over laughing hysterically with Ethan. Ah! The bugger. Must have been following us the whole time and he didn't even try to help me once!

I started swimming to the shallow end of the pool so I could crawl out of the water since I don't think I could pull myself out of the water even if I wanted to. Which, I didn't. It was already hard to get out of the pool without being completely numb. Stupid jerk! When I was halfway to the shallow end I realized the t-shirt I had wore to bed last night was white and it was freezing. So I might just be nipping out right now. Another reason to hate Jeremy right now!

"Ugh-gh, you b-b-bette-r-r help me-e out right now!" I got through my lips eventually. That just made them laugh harder then before, which should have been impossible since, they were practically peeing themselves before.

After another painful minute of staying in the ice cold water Jeremy and Ethan had got their selves under control and made their way over to me.

Jeremy started bending down to help me out but before he could I said, "Take your shirt off. Now."

He looked at me weirdly, before quickly complying. "Now, give it to me." This time he didn't hesitate. Once his black shirt was in my hands I pulled it over my head and barked out, "Now get my freezing ass out of the pool!"

He wrapped his large hands around my bicep and pulled me from the pool with what looked like very little effort. I started walking to into the house without another word. Before I shut the door behind me I heard another fit of laughter. Probably just realized why I wanted his shirt. Tool bag. I am so getting him back for this one.

Sorry if it wasn't up to everyone who reads expectations. Like I have said before I don't think I am a very good writer. Feedback would be appreciated. Thanks for reading. It might be kind of short, but since I am just starting to write my updates obviously won't be the longest.
