This is just the first chapter (of the real story) so trust me when I say a lot of exciting and funny stuff will happen later on. Oh, and you meet another important boy the next chapter.

Just throwing it out there! Much love, Nickymb ♥

“I think I found you a tutor.”

I’m shoving my huge environmental science book into my locker when Jessie breaks the news, clearly going for effect more than cause. Which is her signature move. Startled, I almost drop the book as I turn, my eyes wide with surprise and excitement.

I’ve been trying for the past week and a half to find someone, anyone, to be my tutor. The only guy who offered was looking for more than just studying equations and angles. Unless of course if was a formula for a way to get me into his bed.

There was no way that was happening.

“You aren’t playing a trick right now are you?” Because if she is I am going to seriously hurt her. She knows how important this is to me.

She rolls her eyes before producing a tan parchment like paper with black squiggles on it. I squint and lean forward, still with one hand holding my book in the locker, and read the small, black print.

All I see is two columns full of names. I look from the list, to her, and then back.

“What am I supposed to be looking at?”

“God!” She exclaims, leaning against the locker. She turns the paper around so that now the two columns are facing her.

Before she continues I hurry to shove my book the rest of the way into my locker and slam the door.

“Did you even look at the tutor lists hanging in the office?”

“Yes,” I respond, leaning against the lockers next to her. “Well, er, no. The office lady said they took them down because they were all full. When I asked to look, she said there was no point. I didn’t really find a reason to argue any further than that.”

She brings her finger to the first column, covering up half the letters of the last name on the bottom. “See here? This is the tutors,” She slowly moves her hand to a blank spot on the right.

“And here is all the people that signed to be with them. I guess they posted this one back up this morning when someone put their name on it our of nowhere. I stole it so you could put your name next to it.”

I don’t know if I should be worried she stole something from the office or kiss her for doing it.

My heart skips a beat, excitement making me giddy. My coach said that if I found a tutor and maintained an A in math for the rest of the year, I could stay on the squad.

There was no way they were losing their captain she said.

I agreed.

“Give me that!” I snatch the paper from her hand and lean it against a blue locker, beyond happy that this is really happening. I look around, as if a pen will appear out of thin air, and Jessie shakes her head sadly.

I’m sure I look like a crazed maniac. But it didn’t matter at all to me. Whoever this person was, they were going to be my savior. They were going to be the reason I finally passed.
