Ok so I am dedicating this chapter to Christinag1227 because I used a line of her's that always makes me laugh everytime I read it in her story Write For Me. It is a great read and you should definitely check it out if you haven't will totally make you laugh!

Chapter 23

Gavin’s P.O.V

I raced through the hospital looking for Ava, I couldn’t find her anywhere. I stopped at a nurse’s station in the Pediatric ward in hopes that someone knew where she was.

But sadly even the nurse’s station was empty.

Where is everyone?

“Where are you hiding my girl?” I mumbled under my breath.

Suddenly Mark rounded the corner and I practically pounced on him.

“Mark!”

He looked shocked to see me “yeah?”

“Have you seen Ava?”

“Umm… yeah she was up here like half an hour ago, checked on a patient then said she was heading home for some sleep. I think she left about fifteen minutes ago.”

“Damn…” I missed her and she’s probably already home “Ok, thanks Mark I’ll see you in a couple of days.”

I didn’t stay long enough to hear what he replied as I was already sprinting to the stairs so that I could change and go find my girl.

I knocked on the door and waited for her to answer. I heard some shuffling of feet and some things being pushed out of the way. Then the door clicked and opened to reveal a very tired looking Ava.

She just looked at me. Waiting. She was wearing a black tank top with tight yoga pants and her hair was everywhere giving me the impression that she was asleep in bed. She was still waiting for me to say or do something so I cleared my thoat.

“Umm….” I started awkwardly “I… I think… Ahh screw it! I’m ready to come clean and tell you everything.”

She stayed quiet and just looked at me, studying me to see if I was pulling her chain. She finally came to a conclusion because she jerked her head to me as a ‘come in’ gesture, and then moved so I could come in.

She silently walked to her bedroom and got in her bed. I followed her in.

“We can talk after we sleep. Right now I am too tired to deal with any new information.”

She curled up on her side and patted the bed motioning for me to follow her. Without even thinking I took off my shirt and jeans and climbed into bed with her. I lay on my side and reached forward bring Ava flush against me, her back pressed to my chest.

I sighed and nuzzled her neck then feel asleep with my head in the crook of her neck.

I woke up hours later, cold and alone in bed with the smell of coffee and spaghetti surrounding me. Typical Ava, when she was stressed she cooked.

I guess that’s not a bad thing seeing as how it is going make sure I am well fed for the rest of my life.

I got up and found her in the kitchen. Typical. She was pulling a pan of spaghetti out of the oven, oh yeah she did this weird thing where she cooked the sauce and the noodles then mixed them together in a pan with mozzarella and parmesan cheese then bakes it for about 20 minutes. Weird I know, but it is the best spaghetti I have ever had. No lie.

She had turned around to pull some homemade dinner rolls “Hey” I said softly.

She jumped about a mile before turning around with her mitten clad hand over her heart “jeez you scared the day lights out of me.”

“I’m sorry” I said hiding my chuckle at her too cute response.

She scowled at me “you shouldn’t sneak up on me like that.”

“I really am sorry” I said reaching out and pulling her towards my bare chest.

“Do you want me to help get dinner ready?”

“No I’m finished” she said “I was just about to wake you.”

“Really? Hmmm… maybe I should go back to the bed and you come get me” I whispered in her ear.

I felt her shiver run down her spine and I saw her bite her lip “I think we should eat in the living room then we can talk” she said quickly deflecting, trying to ignore the sexual tension between us.

She quickly backed out of my embrace and went to scoop up two plates of spaghetti and dinner rolls. I grabbed two glasses and two cokes out of fridge and followed her to her couch.
