Bullied Tomboy

At the Hospital...

Alexis' Dad stood with the Social-Worker, filling out Alexis' foster forms. He was going to take her away until her Mum gets better. Or that's how it looked like.

As he was writing out the forms, beads of sweat formed on his forehead. He didn't want to do this; he didn't want to be in this mess in the first place. He just wanted a peaceful family home which consisted of the baby and his new girlfriend. But he was wrong. Now on his hands were his daughter and suicidal ex-wife.

He muttered some curses as he signed each paper, whilst glaring at the Social-Worker. He wasn't anywhere near a fit Dad for anyone, and he knew it. But then the Social-Workers were too desperate for a fast foster family. They thought that Alexis wouldn't cope. As if, he thought.

Alexis was sitting on the toilet floor at the hospital. Everything was too clean and she hated it. She kicked at the wall - then kicked again. This was starting to get entertaining; it was a good way of letting out your emotions - hurting something that isn't live.

Before she knew it, she was banging on every corner of the cubicle. Punching, kicking and all other sorts of violence. It was fun.

"Are you okay in there?" A little voice asked. It was another one of those pesky nurses.

Alexis stopped hitting the door and replied sweetly, "Of course not."

"Um... Uh, OK then. Can you please come out? We have a visitor for you," the nurse said. Why wouldn't she see the message and go away? Alexis said mentally. Instead of disobeying, she opened the door with a large force and walked out with no care.

"Follow me," the Nurse continued speaking to her as if nothing was ever wrong in the world.

Alexis for once did as she was told and followed the short auburn haired lady. If she was getting called somewhere by a Nurse, then it must have been very important.

They reached their destination...

"Mum!" Alexis cried, running to her mother's bedside. It was the first time she could see her Mum again in like days. She was about to hug her mother but stopped herself as she saw her mother's state.

"She's lost a lot of blood," the Nurse stated. Alexis turned her heal quickly and stared at the Nurse.

"Oh, I really didn't see that," she replied, her voice full of sarcasm. "Of course I know, it doesn't take a blimmin' genius!"

"Calm down Alexis," her mother whispered. Alexis turned back to her mother, grabbed a nearby chair and sat on it.

"Mum? Are you alright?" Her voice had suddenly changed from one of anger to one of concern. Her mother nodded awkwardly in reply. She had a cannula in both arms and a drip through her nose.

"Um... Excuse me. But um, Alexis can you um... Leave your mother. You have to leave now, that's the rules."

Alexis was ready to throw a couple of words at the Nurse before her mother gave her a silent warning look which meant something along the lines, don't start a fight with a Nurse out of all people.

So once again, she had to follow that Nurse. "Ok, um... Alexis? That's your name right? You have proper visitors waiting for you at the waiting area. You are a pretty new case around her and..." After hearing the main news, Alexis mentally shut her ears from the Nurse's rambling. Who knew Nurses were the most annoying beings on earth?

After walking for a while, Alexis was face to face with her visitors.

"What are you doing here?" She spat, looking at her father in disgust. How could he just turn up like that? She thought. How could he act like everything was fine and there was nothing to care about? And who the hell where those two women?

"Alexis darling, meet Rose your social worker, and Carly, my girlfriend." Sometimes Alexis wondered if her Dad was asking for a punch. But then she couldn't even hurt him at all, he was her father after all.
