Chapter 42 A Light in the Dark

We stepped forward before, Lady Gaia. She was prostrated before us in all her glory. “Rise dear one profess your supplication.”

“We beg your guidance and assistance, oh Goddess of the Earth, Goddess of Wolves and Night-Beings. I pray it favours you?”

“Come. Dress, lead the way. We've much to talk about, you and I.” She dressed, covering her nakedness with a golden robe, then led us back inside to the others to fill us in on the plans they had finalized for their mission. Lady Gaia was our go between now for this new missions from here on out as per her group. With both of us gone she has grown into her new powers of Earth and Water to take my place here on earth. There is no more need for a Spirit in the group while we are here back on earth. They can communicate directly to Diana and I without a go between.

“Tell us my child.” They were sitting around the war room table with several hand drawn maps laid out of the underground we has described showing multiple tubes, both going down to the lave, and up to the surface that we left for them; along with a select few that were blocked that led to the ocean floor directly overhead.

“This tube” Bavo pointed to one of three that went deep into the mantle. “We plan to blow first, along with these other two a few second later,” He pointer to two others that led to more lava pits closer to the surface—one low, two high up. They should reach at the same time is what they are expecting—“Then we wait.” He sat back with a smug look on his face. So typical Bavo.

“You think they will reach the cavern at the same time with the differing sizes of tube widths and heights?” I asked. He lost his smug look.

“Well, I think so. The two tubes are higher, plus there is much more lava closer to the surface so in theory, it should reach the cavern at the same time as the one further down with a thinner tube. I think.”

“No. Thinking won't cut it. You have to know, or it will fail before you even go in. Will it work? Or won't it work?” I asked. He leaned over the map again and started calculating on his left wrist again tapping numbers so fast a human would never be able to keep up with him. I am not human, I was about a hundred steps ahead of him already in my head. I knew the correct answer before I asked the question—it would work perfectly the way he had it planned out, but he had to know it would for himself—“Well? Yes or No?” I asked again.

Bavo, looked up at me... a slow smile broke upon his face. “Yes it will. I just recheck all my figures and factored in all the differing sizes of tubes and estimated length you originally gave us, and they will meet up just about the exact same time give or take a fraction of a second.” He fell back against his seat with his trademark smirk firmly in place.

“You are correct in your calculations my child. That is pretty close in deed. Now, the question is how long will it take to fill the cavern and finish the job before you will have to stop the flows and quench the lava to stem the pressure. You can't let it build up and form a new island or create a tidal wave and destroy and land masses.” I watched his smirk fade away for the second time in just so many minutes. Bavo looked to Icka for help on this one now.

“My Goddess of the Earth, if I may? The cavern will fill in one hour and eighteen minutes once we trap them in leaving an expansion hole for the pressure to escape. Once it is filled we will cap the expansion hole off then blow the top two water inlets drowning the lava to cool it down before re-blowing them to seal them off. When they are sealed the finals three holes will be blown to finish off the lower three shafts sealing them for good.”
