Intro:

When xxWhoAteMyCookiexx brought up popular stories as a topic I immediately locked it in. People often complain all over wattpad about how popular stories are terrible and their stories are truly better than others. Let's see what people's opinions are.

Psychology_Stud's perspective:

God I hate popular stories. All of them are the same and so cliche. I don't care about romance, I don't like happy stories. Stories with happy endings are the only ones that become popular. They irritate me, because they are so unrealistic. Most of the stories written that aren't popular are way better than the ones that everyone likes. Alas, this site is mostly inhabited by teenaged girls who get wet at their little Disney endings.

Amyscence's perspective:

A lot of the popular stories on Wattpad don't even deserve the title POPULAR. I have no idea how most of them get so popular with the bad grammar, plot lines, characters ugh. I makes my head numb. But for some reason they get popular. Not all popular stories are cliche ones but most of them are, unfortunately. There are a lot of stories there are yet to be discovered that are 1000x better than these BS threesome stories. -.- I wish Wattpad did something to give them more popularity. But yeah .. my opinion of popular stories is that they are somewhat great. I mean ... can't deny that they are actually interesting to read and not boring ... it's popular for a reason. D: But most of them are popular for all the wrong reasons D: yes .. my head is going numb again. T_T Tim get inside me.

TheWriter1's perspective:

They're all the same. Okay, not true. But, people read stories on the What's Hot page and think omg, I can totally do that. A lot of people model their stories on popular stories so you basically get 10 versions of the same book. Not true in all cases but people who want fans will do that because obviously popular stories have a lot of fans. So, they take an original plot with original ideas and do the same. That's why when you go to the What's Hot page you see so many of the same storylines. When a author whose work had remained fairly unknown in the --- years since they joined wattpad, has a decently popular story they want to keep it up for as long as possible. I read one excellent Fanfiction, it was so popular the author wrote a sequel, a sequel with 60 chapters of rubbish. I really hate when a story is dragged on too long. Even published books fall for this, *cough* Twilight *cough*. People need to know when to stop and move on. However, I don't want to end on a negative notes so I have to say that there are a few truly unique and amazing stories out there (popular and undiscovered) and I recommend people take a look at both.

OH_HOT_DAMN's perspective:

Alright, "Popular Stories"

Well, I think you get on the "What's hot list." by luck. When I started wattpad, I uploaded my story and in a couple of days I had over one hundred fans, and was on the top of the What's Hot List - and I knew it was by luck.

But, I guess some people get up there by hard work and others - not really. Most stories on the "What's Hot List" are boring, no plot, no emotion carried through the characters throughout the story. But some are actually good and SHOULD be on there because there story has a plot and wonderful characters and a good setting!

Many people think the "What's Hot List" is only filled with cliches and lame stories - but that's not true. The author's try VERY hard to write and please there fans, but how they got up there might not be the same as to why there trying hard now to get fans or get on the "What's Hot List"  as much as others.

They try hard like every other person on wattpad, but some people on wattpad think differently an think that there work is a cliche just because they have lots of fans and are on the "What's Hot List" a lot! They try just as hard and work just as hard and work just as much as everyone else. But people think there story is trash because it's liked.
