"Okay, kids, we won't be here when you get home. Your father has another business trip-"

"Mom, you're missing another one of my games," I said.

"Oh, shoot! Really?" I giver her a blank look as my response, "Next one, Drew, I promise! Now get going to school, you two."

We were ushered out the door and it was closed behind us.

"Drew," Nikola starts, "Are you-?"

I slam the door shut, "Fine. Now shut up."

I'm fine. This isn't the first promise they broke, and it definitely wouldn't be the last. I gripped the wheel until my knuckles turned white. I'm fine. I'm fine. Maybe if I keep telling myself that, I actually will be.

I pulled into my usual spot, jamming on the brake. Nikola put her hand against the dashboard to brace herself. From my peripheral vision I saw her give a worried look at me.

"He's yours now," Nikola said to Sophia as she slammed the door shut and walked off to the school. Sophia crossed her arms over my door and got down to my level.

"Drew, what's wrong?"

I slammed my hands against the wheel, "Everyone needs to stop asking me that!" Then I cooled down...a little, "I'll be fine." I opened the door and grabbed her wrist, tugging her towards the back of the school by the gym. There were a few kids standing around there smoking. I pushed Sophia up against the brick wall and crashed my lips down upon hers. I wanted her to kiss me back hard, but she just wouldn't. I bit her lip. But what I thought would just be a little nibble actually had me tasting blood.

"Ow, Drew," she pushed me away a couple inches and then brought her fingers to her lower lip. When she pulled them away they were covered in blood.

"I'm sorry," I whispered to her. I licked my lips, the taste of her blood on my tongue. It was delicious- what the fuck?! No! It-it was weird! That's what it was, "God, Sophia, I'm sorry. I'm so, so sorry." I grabbed my hair in my fists. What was happening to me?

"Drew," she tried to make me look at her, "Drew, its okay. Its just blood. I'm fine," there was panic in her eyes. She was afraid of me.

I leaned towards the people to my left and borrowed some pot. They lit it for me and I gladly inhaled.

"Drew, j-just kiss me again. You don't wanna go into school smelling l-like pot."

I took another hit and then leaned back to her. She didn't like the taste of pot, I could tell. Her being tense made me tense, I got jittery and ended up kissing her too hard again.

"Ow," I hated myself, "Drew, you need to calm down. Its just a kiss, nothing to get panicked about."

I took another hit off the pot and while I was doing that, someone asked, "Hey, are you guys dating?"

I choked on the smoke, "No!" I yelled, then I saw the look in Sophia's eyes; scared, worried, I took another hit and then said, "I-i mean, no," in a calmer voice.

"We should get to class," Sophia said in a voice that made her decree seem final. I took one last hit and then handed the joint back to the guy who I had took it from.

We went back to my car since school still wouldn't start for a couple minutes. I leaned against the hood.

"Drew, I know you don't want anyone asking you this question, but; are you okay?"
