“Alright, Damien, we’ll talk business. How do I get my daughter back?” My rage and desperation threatened to boil over.

“Miranda! You know exactly what I am after. My wants and desires haven’t changed a bit. I want the money. It is as simple as it always has been, my dear. You simply sign over the millions to me, and you and your daughter live. Surely your daughter is more important to you than the millions.”

“Damien, I wonder how you survive in this world. I have told you and your goons numerous times that I have no money. I have even shown you the proof and you refuse to believe me. I don’t see how we can come to any sort of conclusion.” I was starting to get a severe sense of dread.

On the other end of the line, there was laughter. “Miranda, that joke is somehow still funny. But it won’t be for long.” His voice went deathly serious. “You will meet us at the abandoned factory in Stockton. Your new lackies should know exactly which one I speak of. Meet us in exactly two weeks. I have some other business to attend to and I will not be able to give you and your daughter my full attention until then. If you do not show up, your daughter will die. If you and your gang of thugs try anything funny, your daughter will die. Do I make myself clear, Miranda?”

“Crystal, Damien. I will be there in exactly two weeks. And you better pray that there is not a hair out of place on my daughter’s head, for if there is, there will be hell to pay. I can promise you that.”

"You're not in the position to be making threats of any kind, Miranda," Damien said softly. " You have two weeks to follow my rules, girl, or your daughter dies! Do I make myself clear?!" The murderous intent was clear in his voice.

"Yes, Damien." I said quietly, and then there was a click as he hung up the phone. I placed it in my pocket and sobbed. Gathering my composure, I looked up at the men gathered around me. "Damien said we meet in two weeks at the abandoned factory in Stockton... he said you guys should know what that is... he wants the money he still thinks I have. He says if he doesn't get it, Makayla will die." I burst back into tears.

Tig wrapped his arms around me. "We won't let anything happen to her, Alice. We will figure it out."

Clay walked up to her and placed a hand on her back. "Tig's right. Nothin' will happen to your daughter. We will go to the factory in Stockton, Juice can download all of the floor plans, and we will make a plan. We will get her back and we will stop Sparks from doing anything more to you again."

I gave Clay a look of gratitude in between my tears. I knew these men would not let anything happen to me or Mak. We were going to figure it out, we were going to get Mak back, and she and I would finally have a real life. There would be no more running, just stability for Mak. And hopefully that life would involve Tig and the rest of the Sons of Anarchy.

---------------------------------------------------------

The next two weeks were difficult. The guys spent a lot of time in Stockton and around the club table, pouring over the blueprints that Juice had both downloaded and got from the courthouse. I tried to be a part of the meetings and figure out what the plan was, but I was forcefully kept out of all discussions by Tig, Jax, and Clay. Frustrated, I cornered Jax one day as yet another meeting was adjourned. "Why am I being kept out of these meetings?! My daughter's life depends on this plan, and damn it, I need to be included!"

Jax looked around for help, but no one was paying attention. Finding no way out of the conversation, he looked back down at me. "Alice, we understand that. At this point, there is nothing we really need to have you included in right now. We are going over the floor plans and inspecting what is left in the factory to figure out where we need to have guys placed to ensure that we have the ability to take down Sparks and his men for good without risking you and Mak. When we get everything figured out, we will tell you everything. We are trying to get everything to go flawlessly." He put his hands on either side of my head and leaned forward to place a kiss on my forehead. "Don't worry, darlin', you will be included, and everything will be alright." He ran the pad of his thumb back and forth on my cheekbone a few times before leaving for home.

Sighing, I grabbed my purse and headed out to my bike. As I was putting my purse in the saddlebags, Tig came over and wrapped his arms around me. A little hurt about Tig being so willing to keep me out of the conversations regarding the retrieval of my daughter, I pulled away. "I'm going home, Tig." I grabbed my helmet.

"I know you're mad at me, Alice. I don't blame you. I'm sorry it has to be this way. I will be the first to fill you in on the plan when it's time." He looked every bit as sorry as he said he was.

"Thank you, Tig. Are you coming over when you're finished here? I would like to start painting Mak's room tonight. I'm going to the hardware store now to get paint and supplies." I put on my helmet.

"Yeah, I'll be over. Do you want me to bring anything over?" Tig latched my saddle bag for me and helped me onto the bike.

"Nah, I think I'll order take out Chinese, though, sound good?" I looked up at Tig, smiling.

"Sounds perfect, baby. I'll be over as soon as I can. I have a few vehicles I need to get finished. I'll shower and be over." He leaned over to give me a kiss. "See you soon, babe." He backed up to give me plenty of room to take off.

"Yep!" I gave him a smile. "I love you, Tig."

"I love you, too."

I started up the bike and took off, heading to the Main Street hardware store to pick up pink and purple paint, painter's tape, brushes, rollers, and a pan. I wanted to give Mak a freshly painted and furnished bedroom when we got her back.
