Sooner or Later…You’ll Want Me Again

Previously: Only thing Courtney told me about her novel was that it’scalled Sooner or Later…We’ll Be Together and that the main character’s names are Calvin and Isabelle. Yep, that’s right, it’s a romance novel. With all those soap operas and books she use to read while growing up, it only makes sense to right a romance book.

Chapter 5

By the end of the party, everyone announced they had a good time and started leaving. Skymore has already left, along with a couple of guest. The cleanup crew began doing just that, while Courtney and Brent Daniels was near the front entrance. They were thanking the guest for coming, hoping they had a good time, and all the stuff.

As for yours truly, I’m currently sitting on top of the edge of the stage, my crossed legs dangling in the air separating me from the ground, and my hands laying palm down a few inches behind me, making me tilt back a little. Alongside me sitting are Quentin, on my right, and Andrea, on my left. Beside Quentin in that Phillip guy, whom just jumped off the edge of the stage where he was sitting.

He made his way over in front of me. “So Isyss, I saw you on the cover of sports illustrated and might I say, you looked amazing,” he complimented me. I gave him a friendly smile. Of course, that’s how he knows who I am, that’s pretty much how all guys know me.

“Thanks Phillip,” I say back to him, before something a distance away got my eye. A few feet ahead was Cory…and Alona. They seemed to me having a serious conversation. They were standing profile towards me so I only saw half of each their body.

“No, thank you,” Phillip thanked me back admiringly.

“So what’s with this Alona girl? How long have she and Cory been…together?” I asked Quentin, who was sitting quietly next to me. It seemed like whatever he was thinking about was bothering him, so I decided to distract him from it.

“Um….probably two months, give or take,” he answered, looking towards where my eyes were looking.

“Is that the kind of girl he usually goes for?” Andrea asked Quentin.

“You mean is she his type?” Phillip answered her question with a question.

Girl is Cory’s type,” Quentin stated, causing himself, Phillip, and myself to laugh.

“Haha, you mean ‘Cortland’,” I corrected Quentin, referring to what Alona calls him, causing us three to laugh even more.

“Wow, talk about an inside joke,” Andrea says through our laughter.

“Aww, someone feeling left out?” Quentin teased, leaning forward so he can see around me. Andrea faked a laugh and crossed her arms. Yeah, if there’s anything I know about my cousin, is that she doesn’t like feeling left out.

“It’s okay, you can talk to me,” Phillip said as he placed a hand on her knee, which Andrea quickly smacked away. “So, what’s your name? I’m Phil,” he continued his flirting, ignoring her previous action.

Andrea rolled her eyes, not showing any interest. “I’m thirsty, can you get me something to drink?” she responded back to him. I shook my headed and chuckled. Must she always play ‘hard-to-get’? But of course, Phillip went off to what I can only assume, is get her something to drink.

As the tables were starting to get back to their, apparently, original style, the cleanup crew started disbursing. I noticed Courtney and Brent Daniels heading towards us. I hopped off the stage just in time for them to reach us. Courtney embraced me in another hug. “Thanks again for everything,” she thanked me.

I told her it was nothing. “So if you’re ready, you can just ride with us to the house,” she stated. I nodded my head and looked to Andrea.

“You ready to go?” I asked her, to which she nodded in response before hopping of the edge of the stage. Next to jump off was Quentin. He yawned and stretched when he landed.

“What time is it?” he asked no one in particular. Brent Daniels pulled out his phone and gazed at the screen. He then told everyone that it was two in the morning. That’s when Quentin said something about having to do something before he went to bed, so he was the first of us to leave. I hope this whole Tisha thing blows over soon, I hate seeing him like this.

“Okay everyone, let’s head out,” Courtney enthused after Quentin left.  As we all began heading towards the door, Courtney stopped and turned around, facing the direction where Cory and Alona was sitting.

“Thanks Cory! I’ll talk to you later!” she shouted out to him. He looked over to her from Alona and nodded, and waved his hand. He spared me a look before turning back to Alona.

The look he gave me was kind of a mixture of want, yet distraught, like he wanted me, but he didn’t want to want me…or maybe he doesn’t have feeling for me and he knows that I still have feelings for him…or maybe I should just stop trying to guess what he’s thinking and ask him instead…

Um…I’ll put that on my “To Do”. When he turned back to Alona, I took that chance to exit the restaurant, which I now know is called King’s Palace…haha I wonder if Cory made that name up.

Anyway, I follow the others outside, where a valet had a car waiting for Brent Daniels and Courtney. “Do you guys wanna ride with us? Or just follow?” Brent Daniels asked when he was standing next to the driver’s door. Courtney opened the passenger’s side door before getting in, but didn’t shut the door as she waiting my response.

“Um, we can just ride along with you guys, I’ll just have my driver follow behind,” I tell them. Andrea was already at our car, leaning down in the passenger’s window, letting Andy know the plans. I see him nod before starting his car. I got into the backseat of my bestfriend and her fiancé’s car with Andrea following shortly after.

Wow, it sounds funny saying that. Courtney’s fiancé. It seemed like yesterday we were both playing ‘bride’, and of course, we were each other’s bridesmaids, haha. Surprising, the drive to their house wasn’t as long as I had anticipated.  And my oh my, house isn’t even the word for it!

We pulled into the driveway, leading towards a white, brick, two story house. When the car stopped, everyone got out. Andrea and I looked towards the house. “Wow, if writing books make you this kind of money then I’m starting my rough draft today,” she joked to me, not taking her eyes off the house.

I shook my head and laugh. “I really have to read this book of hers,” I reply before following the couple up the pathway leading to the front door.

“What’s it about anyway?” Andrea asked me.

I shrugged my shoulders. I don’t really know what the story is about since Courtney doesn’t want me to read it. Come to think of it, she never really gave me a good reason why she doesn’t want me to. “Probably some horny teenagers with no life outside of high school,” I joked.
