Chapter XII

 The Moonlight

Arielle rested her back against the thin door of the bathroom. Darkness surrounded her slim figure, as she stood there motionless. Her silky hair cascaded down her shoulders. Her mesmerizing eyes held no glint or glow they were shadowed by sadness. Her corset was tight around her petite waist causing her rounded breasts to look appetizing. She held her chest and closed her eyes.

She wondered when the pain would ease because it seemed to devour her insides slowly. She never thought she would suffer so much; falling in love with Lord Clyde was the biggest mistake of her life. She could not wait to feel him again. She felt weak and vulnerable each time she faced him. She felt so used and sad after they made love because he would only push her away like so many of the girls who slept with him.

Opening her eyes, she took a deep breath in. It was time to put her false facade on, time to straighten her body and pretend to be extremely okay. She exited the bathroom and walked down to the kitchen. She was looking for Morgana but she hadn't found her in her chambers. She knew she could not be far.

She heard a low growl and her senses went on alert. Knowing the noise was coming from the backyard; she walked towards it and opened the back wooden door. The cold night breeze brushed her long hair backwards the moonlight caressed her flawless skin and stunning features.  Her eyes met the ones of the man she loved. His violet eyes stared at her for a moment before looking up at something. She spotted Morgana standing next to him. Her hood was covering most of her face, her head was slightly tilted back so Arielle guessed she was looking at the thing The Lord had his eyes glued to whatever it was. Filled with curiosity, Arielle cleared her throat and stepped outside.

"My Lor-Ah!" She shrieked when she saw the Dragon standing too close to her for comfort. She was not a fan of dragons they were deceitful beasts that were never to be trusted…ever. Especially the Red Dragon, he was known for his cruelty and for manipulating other creatures to achieve his own twisted goals. Arielle lifted her gaze and her eyes widened in shock. Isis was standing in the balcony, looking absolutely calm. A flash of jealousy crossed her when she realized Isis was inside the Lord's chambers.

What was she doing there?

Arielle was also surprised to see her so relaxed around the Dragon.

"What's happening?" Arielle asked shocked by the surrealism of the situation. She got no answer, her eyes landed on Isis again and her stomach clenched in jealousy. Even though, Isis was not well nourished she looked beautiful in the moonlight. Her long white hair was moving slowly with the wind, her big gray eyes were staring at the Dragon intently as if she was trying to understand something. Arielle squeezed her fists, holding her emotions back. She knew Isis was innocent but she could not help the anger filling her entire being. Lord Clyde had never let her or any other lover stepped on to the balcony.

What was Isis doing there?

Did she sleep with Clyde?

The thought of her touching him angered her but she knew it was not Isis' fault. Clyde had probably brought her to his chambers by force because Arielle noticed Isis was still chained.

"My Lord, what is happening here?" Arielle asked again, but this time she got a reply. Morgana glanced at her.

"The Dragon is sick. We hope that little brat can help him," Morgana spoke bitterly. Arielle could not understand why Morgana seemed to despise Isis so much but Witches were odd creatures after all.

"You cannot heal him?" Arielle inquired surprised. Morgana was the most powerful Witch she'd ever known.

"No, my spells do not work on Dragons. However, my potions seemed to work before but they are not helping him now."

"Oh," Arielle said as a reply and looked at Lord Clyde. He was now leaning against a tree. His strong arms were folded around his chest. His breath-taking violet eyes were no longer glued to Isis, they were staring absently at nothing in particular. He was deep in thought.

What did he want from Isis?

What was his purpose?

Morgana started walking towards Arielle snapping her out of her thoughts.

"Jealousy will not lead you anywhere," Morgana whispered as she passed by Arielle to go back inside the mansion. Arielle didn't reply and kept her head held high. Morgana enjoyed messing with people's minds. She knew that so she could not let her see that she got to her.
