Harry:

 “This just sucks” you whispered.

“What, being away from each other today?” Harry asked slowly. You nodded, feeling the tears sting your eyes. Harry was 6,000 miles away, promoting the new album in Los Angeles, while you sat at home. The management had been strict about not bringing girlfriends, wanting there to be zero distraction to the boys. So, for you and Harry’s first Valentine’s day, all you could do was sit in your flat and sulk.

“Baby, don’t cry” Harry whispered as you flicked a tear off your cheek.

“I’m just sad” you said, flicking through the channels on TV. Every channel had a Valentine’s day special, making it even worse.

“I just wish I could hold you” Harry said, and you smiled and sighed.

“Yep, me too” you said, and Harry looked down. It was awful, being this far from Harry. It was hard every day, but especially a day where couples and love and togetherness was being shoved in your face. You used to think it sucked being single on Valentine’s day, but dating someone who wasn’t there was way worse. There was a knock at the door, and you started getting up.

“Woah, wait. Look at me” Harry said, and you glanced down.

“Is the door locked?” he asked, and you shook your head.

“Harry, it’s probably a door to door salesman. Stop freaking out” you said, but you heard the doorknob turn.

“It’s a surprise for you, actually” Harry smiled, and you turned. Ed Sheeran was standing in the door way, guitar slung over his shoulder and a beautiful bouquet of purple, blue and pink flowers. Your jaw dropped, and Ed smiled. You had become very close to Ed since dating Harry, and he was the closest thing to a Harry stand in on the continent you were on.

“Here” he said, thrusting the flowers towards you. You laughed as you put the vase of flowers down on the table.

“Are you going to play me some songs?” you asked, sparkly eyed.

“Yeah yeah, take a seat” Ed laughed, and you sat infront of the laptop and beside Ed.

“This is the best I could do” Harry said, and you shook your head.

“This is amazing. Thank you” you smiled, as Ed started singing ‘She’. It was the most amazing Valentine’s day you could have had without having Harry by your side.

Niall:

“Okay, now add a cup of cornstarch to thicken it up” you said, and you and Niall both poured in your cornstarch. You turned back to the computer and raised an eyebrow, and Niall gave you a thumbs up.

“Now stir” you smiled, glancing over your shoulder. Niall was smiling at you as he stirred his pot of sauce. Niall was, unfortunately, in New York doing appearances for Valentine’s day. You weren’t devastated, still able to talk to him every day, but you weren’t happy either. You knew you both just had to do the best you could, so you came up with a simple dinner you could both make and ‘have dinner’ together.

“Is your sauce thick?” you asked, and Niall nodded excitedly.

“It smells brilliant” he said, and you matched his nod.

“Okay, let’s eat then” you said, plating your food. Niall did the same, and you both sat at tables thousands of miles away.

“Oh, before you eat. Go to the top drawer of my dresser” Niall said, and you raised an eyebrow.
