Chapter 1

I took one last glance in the mirror, scrutinizing my make up, outfit and my all together body. I had long, straight blonde hair that seemed to shape my slim face perfectly and show off my baby blue eyes. I was 5”7’, with a personality of a 6”2 basketball star. I didn’t shy away from people. It wasn’t in my nature. I stood up to them, showed my dominance and the capability my wolf has to tear them apart. Yes. I am a werewolf-daughter of the current Alpha of the Midnight pack.

Being the daughter of the Alpha comes with responsibilities. To be mated with a high ranked werewolf of another pack. Though being mated isn’t something we choose, but something that is chosen upon us. My brother is to be next Alpha of this pack and within time, I will be booted out and put into the pack of my mate.

I shook the disturbing thoughts out of my head and scurried down stairs to grab an apple and my car keys. It was time for school to start up again. The first day back, I need to make a good impression. I’ve changed over the summer. Sophomore year I was a shy kid that hid in the corner of the class. I wore baggy clothes and zero make up what so ever. But over the summer, when I realized how all my pack mates and best friends were getting boyfriends, I decided it was time for a change. I cut and styled my hair, colored it beach blonde instead of a nasty dusty color. I changed my attire, going for the more girly-girly look, wearing booty shorts and fancy shirts. 

I pulled into the parking lot and picked a spot right next to my best friend, Hailey’s red Ferrari. I hopped out of my Camaro and skipped up the steps to grab the big heavy door. 

When I got to my locker I was attack by arms. “Lyla Gentry! Look at you! My new and improved best friend!” Hailey squealed and pulled away to give me her toothy grin. I giggled at her and put folders and notebooks into my locker. 

Hailey was also blonde with blue eyes but she was an inch shorter than me, a hundred times more beautiful and every guy in this school wished to tap her. But she was too good for them. We’ve been super-glued to each other since first grade. Nothing, no matter how severe it was, ever split us apart for one second. We never had a fight, never took a break. We were sisters. 

“Hello Hailey Baby!” I exclaimed and linked an arm with her, walking down the hall to our first period-Trigonometry. 

“We’re Juniors, Lyla! Juniors!” She cried, fanning her face. I chuckled and rolled my eyes. I heard whistles come from all around the school as Hailey and I strutted our stuff. “And the guys love you, darling!” No. They loved her! Always have and always will. She was every guys target. 

“Hailey, keep it on the DL.” I whispered in her ear, make her snicker and push me into a group of jocks. Flush crept up my neck and into my cheeks. “I’m so sorry.” I said, looking into the eyes of the gorgeous Trent Benson. He gave my body a look over before he smirked and shrugged.

“No problem at all, baby cakes.” He squeezed my ass and I squealed in both shock and delight. My eyes widened and I was pulled closer to him.

“Okay Trent! Let my best friend go or I’ll chop your balls off and feed ‘em to squirrels.” Hailey grabbed my hand and yanked my out of his grip. I laughed at Hailey’s comment and smiled at her. 

“He grabbed my-”

“I know! It was nasty. Listen, Lyla sweetie. You are better than stupid horny jocks. Go for more, mature Seniors who actually know how to treat a girl well.” she suggested and opened the door to our Trigonometry class. I took a seat in the middle of the class; she sat next to me. 

“And who are you dating, Hails?” I whispered over to her. She gave me a hard sneer, shaking her head. 

“I’m mated, Lyla. David is going to treat me well because I have him in the palm of my hand. And he’s a few months older than us. So technically…” She stopped and I snorted. David was the sweetest man I knew. He does anything to make Hailey feel at comfort. I wish I had a ma-

The door opened, cutting me off of my thoughts. His smell filled my nose and my heart began to soar. I couldn’t breathe as he walked in. My wolf screamed ‘MATE’ on the top of her lungs. And I couldn’t be more happier. Who was this god?! A transfer? Oh he was simply gorgeous, muscular and all together magnificent. He has short brown hair and perfect hazel eyes, a slim face with taunt cheek bones and a set jaw. He was fierce, the way he walked. He showed dominance and power.
