I tell people I'm not a morning person
and that is not a lie.
but I think that I'm just lazy
regardless of day and night. When summer calls again
early, at five AM.
I promise I will be awake.
Bathing in the golden glow
cascading through my window
under my curtains
and under my eyelids.I stumble across the bedroom floor
the sun bouncing off the walls
I painted them brown like the earth,
now they're gold like fools.
I am happy, like a fool.Rip back the curtain
so sunbeams pour in,
feel the summers breath
upon my skin.Deep and red
the morning is raw.
Honest in nature
Both brand new
and something I have seen before.
Igniting the pavements,
the concrete below
Between the cracks in the road
where the flowers grow. The day is new and I am young
with so much to do
that I have not yet done.
Where will I go today
to simply bathe in sun?
As long as it is here to stay
the days journey has begun.I tell people I'm not a morning person
and that is not a lie
Because in the morning
I am not a person
but a child.
With so much to do
that I have not yet done,
the world is mine
and I am young.
