        Recap:

During the long period of time with no update, I decided it would be smart enough to remind you who the characters are; after all, many of you had commented that you have forgotten which one was which. So basically, I am going to go over all the characters you NEED to know (obviously I am not going to add Charlie, Trent, and the Council in this because you all know who they are).

Macy Sake : She is the woman who brought Charlotte to the public world; in other words, she adopted her. Along the way, Charlotte and Macy have grown closer and they found themselves in a true mother-and-daughter relationship. In addition, she is the  wife of the Beta - who is in the Dark Shadow Pack.

Daniel Sake : Daniel is Charlotte's adoptive brother and Macy's son. He acts like a brother to Charlie, hence the reason he has her trust. Also, during the Baring Ball, he managed to snatch up a mate, Delilah Montgomery (she isn't going to play an important role in The Angel Within, though); who was the one that managed to keep him calm during Charlie's coma.

Derek Sake : He is the Beta of the Dark Shadow Pack and is Charlotte's adoptive father and Macy's husband and Daniel's father. Obviously, Charlie and Derek aren't that close - but Derek's apparent care for Charlotte is all that matters to her.

Nick Barks (Alpha Nick) : Nick Barks, also known as Trent's father, is the Alpha of the Dark Shadow Pack. Alpha Nick's admiration for Charlotte is palpable; although, it slightly falters when he realizes that Charlotte's has been 'lying' about her identity.

Maria Coy & Jeff Lanson : Maria and Jeff are mates. Maria - one out of the two/three (close) best friends Charlie has - is sweet and caring. She was one out of two friends that helped pay for Charlie's Baring Ball dress.

Alex Klade & Casey Marlow : They are the same person but in different gender form. They're immature meatheads and they are both one of Charlie's (close) best friends. They are both mateless and if they have found their mates during Charlie's departure are unknown, now.

Megan Chase : Megan, Megan, Megan. We all hate her; she never fails to come between Trent and Charlie's relationship. She is possessive and neglects the idea of Trent being with another girl, especially Charlotte. However, with hidden secrets, she's just a broken soul.

Chapter 20: Envious

Charlotte's POV

I've heard tales of girls becoming heartbroken. They get lost to a sea of hopelessness and they sink, deeper and deeper into the grim abyss, into the ruins of their failed relationship. They drench themselves with their own tears and they're left to salvage the remaining pieces of their broken heart.

It was no secret that girls were fragile; so fragile they can shatter by a single glance. When they fall for a boy - no matter how callous or untrustworthy - they fall hard. And they fall so hard, there's nothing they can hold on to for their heart's sake; they're virtually plummeting into the void.

Once the love is unreciprocated, the cage that cradles her heart is destroyed and the girl is left vulnerable. There will be a time when the girl is alone, and is left to wither on the ground the boy - who discarded her heart - once walked on.
