Chapter 7

It was her first time seeing Rashiq in this café since the first time they met. The day he propositioned her. It all seemed like so long ago. Rashiq ordered three cups of coffee for himself and his two bodyguards, and sat at a table far in the corner. He gave a brief nod to Jason before his eyes caught hers. His eyes held her in trance. She shook her head twice, clearing her mind. Rashiq smirked at her, his eyes holding a mischievous light to them as he lifted his coffee mug to his lips to take a sip. The foam formed a moustache on his upper lip that Annabelle very much wanted to lick.

Even with his mood problems earlier, he still had the power to turn her into a mess with just a simple look. It just showed how much power he had over her feelings. She was not supposed to be affected by anything he did or said but why was it that lately she felt that she was very much affected? Shaking her head again, she tried to shake thoughts that were not supposed to be there out of her head. They were only three months into their agreement. It was not supposed to be complicated.

"Annabelle, are you okay? Why do you keep shaking your head?"

She turned to look at Jason, his hand on her shoulder. She gently removed his hand from her shoulder and smiled, "I'm fine."

"Okay, I'll be going back to the dorm soon. I asked the lady over there," he pointed at Amanda, another colleague of hers at this café, "and she said you get off work in ten minutes. Do you want to walk back with me?"

On normal basis on she would accept the walk but with Rashiq sitting a few feet away, it didn't feel good to just leave him and saunter off with another guy. He was still her husband, even if the world did not know and no husband would probably appreciate his wife walking off with another guy in front of him. She knew she wouldn't like it if Rashiq walked off with another girl while she waited for him. Do unto others what you want others to do unto you. She remembered reading that in the Bible once.

"No thanks, Jason. I still have some things to do here. You go ahead."

He shrugged, "Okay then, bye. I'll see you tomorrow."

"I'll send you to the entrance. That's the most I can do for a friend," Annabelle smiled.

            "Sure. Thank you."

Annabelle walked Jason to the entrance and waited till he started walking in the direction of the dorm before walking back into the café. She glanced at Rashiq and was surprised his mood had taken a u-turn again. His face looked angry again. She tried to catch his eye but he looked down at his muffin and started biting into it. His bodyguards expressions weren't much help either. They didn't look as if they possessed much emotion. The both of them just gave her a slight nod and continued protecting Rashiq.

Frustrated with Rashiq's mood swings, she threw herself into her work. She wiped the few remaining tables and all the cups behind the counter before finally hanging up her apron. When she came out from behind the counter, she cast a look at where Rashiq had been sitting earlier and was a bit hurt that Rashiq had already left. She grabbed her small duffel bag, said goodbye to Megan and exited the café. She was three minutes into her journey back to the dorm when a Bentley stopped beside her.
