When I say I am nobody, I mean it literally. It was as though I was completely invisible. People run into me or just don't acknowledge my presence. Or if they do, they just look down at me. It's pretty basic. I'm quiet, I do my work and try to stay out of trouble. That doesn't mean trouble doesn't try to find me...

I saw the ball flying towards me at high speed, but it was too fast for my mind to gather what was happening. It soared towards me, connecting with my head. I went flying backwards and landed on my butt painfully. I lay, sprawled on the hard gym floor, winded.

Laughter erupted around me, making me just want to die from embarrassment. Finally, I think someone realised I was practically dead on the floor and came over to check if I was actually okay. I heard the ascending footsteps come to a halt beside my head.

"You right, Emma?" The teacher asked, chewing gum loudly.

I was afraid it was going to drop and land on my face. I cringed away from her out of reaction, not wanting it fall out of her mouth. She was oblivious and began obnoxiously chewing louder.

"I'll live." I replied, smiling weakly.

I slowly scrambled to my feet. Black dots danced across my vision and my head was pounding painfully.  I stumbled back slightly. I awaited for my vision to return to normal, before attempting to move again.

Tears pricked my eyes, but I refused to let any shed. I plastered a false smile and continued to just stand there, avoiding everyone and balls. (If I tried to play, I seemed to get more injured then normal). I just tried to stay out of the way.

One of those girls, yeah you know the type, the ones who think they know everything and are better than you snickered at me. Her platinum blonde hair shimmered under the bright gym lights. I suppressed a scowl.

She turned and began babbling to her group of followers. Well, I called them her followrs anyway. They didn't exactly act like 'friends' to her, from what I've seen. They all glanced my way, laughing, making it pretty evident what the topic of their conversation was about.

"Could you be any less obvious?" I snapped without even thinking.

It took me a moment or two, to realise I'd spoken like that to the 'It' girls and shut my mouth pretty quickly.  I gulped in panic. I scuttled away into the change rooms, murmuring something about a drink. (Pretty much to save myself from getting another ball to the head). You don't talk to those girls like that and get away with it.

I managed to safely make it back to the change rooms, without being attacked by any other members of their cluster. I let out a shaky breath and ran a hand through my hair.  I sank down onto the bench in misery, burying my head into my hands, doubling over.

What a glorious life I had...
