Chapter Two | Anthony Stark

-Stark Tower-

ANTHONY STARK'S OFFICE WAS a grand facade of high-technological advancements, unusual gadgets and paperwork. Darcy found herself both bewildered and fascinated by her surroundings and could help but touch the things she shouldn't. Extending a hand to suppress her curiosity, smiled and said, "Hey, what's this do?"

"DARCY, DON'T-" Eric said, but before his words could persuade Miss Lewis to retract her finger, a large collection of metallic tools cascaded toward the floor.

With an instantaneous eruption of clashing, Darcy painfully sunk her neck into the comfort of her shoulders. Bitting her lip in assumed agony, she questionably voiced, "-oops?"

"Yes! That would be the reduced form of one's actions, IF MR STARK HAD BEEN PRESENT." Eric grumbled, sighing while harshly pinching the bridge of his nose.  "What did Happy say about touching things?"

"Sorry, my bad!" Darcy cooed, sliding herself into the comfort of her assigned chair.

"Perfectly fine!" An amused voice uttered as Anthony Stark himself leisurely strolled into the room, Pepper shortly following. "It was junk anyway." He shot Darcy a smile before greeting Eric.

"So, you must be the famous Miss Lewis?" Tony questioned, sliding himself upon the frame of his desk. Casually winking at Darcy, Pepper handed him a bunch of interview papers.

"Why do I need these? I don't paper to interview my own intern. Throw them away." Tony smirked, pushing the pile of unwanted paper back toward pepper. Mr Stark could only frown as Pepper boldly crossed her arms over her chest in defiance.

"Fine, I'll throw them away." Tony relaxingly retorted, carelessly tossing the pile of paper into the air before sending Pepper a comical grin. Watching the feather-light paper fluster toward the floor, Darcy couldn't help but snort.

"Uhhggg! You can be such a stick in the mud!" Pepper grilled before she turned to leave.

"Um, excuse me, Miss Potts." Tony added, causing Pepper to pivot and glance at him. Entertainingly grinning, she relaxed her tense posture. "Yes Mr Stark?" Pepper said, battering her eyelashes with poise.

"You wouldn't mind showing Mr Selvig around would you?"

"Not at all." Pepper voiced as Tony motioned his head toward Eric. As he stood, Eric began to follow Miss Potts out of the office. "-oh and please do return to clean up these papers. Somebody left my office in a frightful state." He playfully mimicked, and turned back to Darcy.

"Well, you two sure hit it off don't you?" Darcy couldn't suppress the sarcasm oozing from her voice.

"And what is that supposed to mean?" Tony frowned his brow in question.

"Nothing, I'm sure." Darcy teased, winking back at the millionaire playboy.

"Sure, sure." He muttered. "So! Miss Darcy Lewis, remind me again why you are here?" He continued.

"I'm here for my internship..."

"Right! And what exactly is it I have to do?" Tony mumbled, lifting himself from the desk to move toward the alcohol. Something told him it was going to be a long day.

"You tell me! I'm just the intern." Darcy said, standing to eye off the fancy bottle of scotch.

"Well that makes it easy. What is it you did at your last location? Drink?" He motioned, pouring himself a glass of the fine alcoholic beverage.

"I'll pass, but my job was to eat, observe and keep myself occupied."

"Hmmm?" Tony expectantly mumbled. "I suppose my food bill is going to rise, correct?" Tony questioned, walking toward Darcy.

"Inevitably, My Stark." Darcy added.

"Well then. Welcome aboard Miss Lewis." Tony outstretched his hand for her to shake.

"Call me Darcy." She replied, thankfully taking his hand within her palm to firmly shake.

"Likewise, little intern." Darcy couldn't help but smile at Tony's final words. "I have a feeling we are going to get along fine." He continued, sending the soft liquid of his drink down the back of his throat.

"Don't speak too soon. You'll regret it later." Darcy laughed as Tony lead her toward the exit of his office.

"Oh, I'm so very sure...only time will tell."
