The best thing about tonight's that we're not fighting
Could it be that we have been this way before
I know you don't think that I am trying
I know you're wearing thin down to the core
But hold your breath
Because tonight will be the night that I will fall for you
Over again
Don't make me change my mind
Or I wont live to see another day
CHAPTER14
I sit with her on her bed; enjoying the silence and the food. I have to admit that Miss Sally’s crazy-cooking/coaching really did help in the end. When I realise there’s only one pancake left I decide we have to talk, “I want to kill him,” and all of a sudden we’re in a riot, “well I’m sorry..” she says but the hint of sarcasm does it, “you don’t know what it’s like watching your sister crumble because the one guy she loves let her down,” I stand and she frowns, “it’s not my fault,” I shake my head, “I’m going to kill him,” I repeat, “don’t even try,” I watch her face redden, “You can’t stop me she’s my twin Rose.” I push past her and head toward Brad’s room seeing red, black and blue dot my eyesight. I’m certain I look like Chuck Norris until I swing open his door. He’s bailed, he’s gone but I’ll find him, as I stalk about the house my senses calm me down and I realise I was a jerk to Rose, and that it isn’t her fault that Brad is a class A prick; but then again… I can’t help but see my sister in a puddle of tears flic by in my mind, when did Rose ever care for me like that? I grit my teeth pausing outside and trying to straighten out my mind. I then give up knowing that next time I see Brad he won’t be so lucky and head up stairs to apologise to Rose. Her door swings open revealing her mother picking up a handful of dirty clothing for the wash, “you just missed her,”
I’m almost out the door my school bag rimmed with books and sheets of unwanted paper when I see the cars still aligned outside, she’s not going to school. So with the decision that I’d rather get punished for wagging then breaking up with my girlfriend I take the pathway opposite the school’s direction debating on whether to text her or not. I throw my bag into a bunch of wild flowers outside the mansion and pocket my phone walking quicker than usual in hopes to soon find her. I haven’t texted her because she might run for it and because I haven’t had a full sleep in a long time; I have barely any power to pause or speed up time. When I’m about to give up I hear it; the soft laughter that can only belong to one pair of lips. I would have missed her if she hadn’t made a sound. It’s a hillside forest climbing up high enough to block the suns circular shape. Inside her lap is a bundle of fur. I start to slowly climb the steep path trying not to ruin her moment and to figure out what’s grabbed her attention. I then hear a grumbling noise, but it’s too soft to belong to machinery, a cat. “I’ll name you thunder,” she declares tapping the pink nose of the creature at hand. I stand half hidden behind a gumtree, eucalyptus invading my nostrils ‘till I sneeze loud enough for Rose and her new friend to look up in momentary shock. Before her gaze drops anymore I quickly interlude with, “thunder, just like you’re power, strong,” She looks down at the grey fur-ball that’s glaring at me with huge eyes, “are you calling me loud?” she asks a hint of a smile betraying her angry eyes, “maybe…” there’s silence and Thunder interrupts the awkwardness with a long dragged meow, “I’m sorry,” we fumble at the same time as I step closer tripping on a limb from an ash fallen tree. We smile and a blush crawls on her face but the cat soon attracts her attention again, “do you think she’s got an owner?” I ask closing in the gap and crouching down to see if the cat has changed its mind on liking me, “He” Rose says defensively then backing up her outburst with, “I reckon I mean look at that boyish grin, looks like you.” She grins at me with a hint of evilness; “I’m nothing like that
