-_-Augie-_-
I'm taking my mom and Gabe's advice; I'm not giving up on Mellisa. She needs me and whether she'll willingly except my help or not, I don't know. But I do know my need to protect her goes farther than just my wolf's link to her; My human side cares for her as well.
Though she has never said one remotely nice thing to me, has only called me Augie to my face once instead of a different month of the year, and tells me on a daily basis that she hates me, I can sorta see myself falling for her in the future. Maybe. If she's the same Mellisa that she was in English last Friday, then I can definitely see myself loving her and wanting no one else but her for the rest of my life.
Which is why I'm currently parked outside her house, the address of which I looked up online, and am about to ask her parents if they have any idea of who's responsible for her injuries or if they even know about them at all. Mellisa doesn't really strike me as a family person. Actually, she doesn't really strike me as a people person period.
After finishing dinner with my family, I decided to act on the advice I was just given and check out what's going on from all angles and what better place to start than her house?
The Emerson house was located in a nice and pleasant suburban subdivision. The kind of place where everyone knows each other and your best friends are also your neighbors. All the lawns were perfectly cut and the houses, all relatively large in size, are virtually identical aside from a few personal touches some homeowners have added here or there.
Looking at Mellisa, you'd never think she lived in a place like this but then again her Dad is the city police chief, and it would be incredibly odd if he lived in a place that WASN'T like this.
Once I made my way up the front walkway and arrived at the porch, I took a deep breath and rang the door bell.
After a couple of minutes, I began to question whether or not anyone was home and was about to go back home when someone finally answered the door.
Who I'm assuming to be her father because he was dressed in his black police uniform, stood before me with graying blonde hair with a matching mustache, blue eyes were pretty dialiated as if he just suffered a head injury, was just exposed to light after being in darkness, or most likely, drinking alcohol considering the pungent smell of booze wafting off of him.
"What can I do for you, Kid?" He asked me leaning lazily against the door frame as I remained standing on the dark front porch.
"I'm sorry it's awfully rude of me to come over to your house unannounced and I'm sure you're busy, I just wanted to ask you and your wife about something important. I can come back at a better time if you'd like." I offered somewhat nervously because of how awkward I tend to feel in social situations.
He looked at me curiously before waved me into the house without saying another word.
He led me to a nicely decorated living room and he quickly plopped down on the white armchair, grabbed his glass of scotch from the coffee table and took a sip before he motioned me over to the couch across from him.
"Now, what is SO important that you felt the need to come to my house at 8 o'clock at night?" He said back both extremely sarcastically and rude as he raised his glass back up to his lips.
"I said I could come back at a different time but you invited me in and I came because I'm concerned about Mellisa and I wanted to know if you or your wife knew anything." I said back somewhat snipply.
Though I'm not next in line for Alpha, I'm still an Alpha descendant and my wolf has real issues when it comes to tolerating disrespect.
"Don't get smart with me in my own house, Boy. My wife's no longer in the picture and what about my little slut bitch of a mistake? Has she finally gotten herself knocked up or something? Because I'd for damn sure know if she were in jail." He said glaring at me and on the last part he gestured to his uniform and I instantly understood why Mellisa referred to him as an Asshole on the first day of school.
"ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! SHE'S YOUR DAUGHTER! HOW CAN YOU SIT THERE AND TALK ABOUT HER LIKE THAT?! FOR THE RECORD, NO, SHE ISN'T PREGNANT OR INCARCERATED. AND BECAUSE YOU'RE TOO BUSY BEING SUCH A DICK, I'M SURE YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON WITH HER. I'M SORRY I'VE WASTED BOTH OF OUR TIME." I shouted at him angrily, standing up from the couch, trembling slightly.
