Chapter 1*

A petite, blonde girl was suspended from the cieling by a rope, which was tied around her wrists. The rope digging into her skin while gravity painfully stretched her body downwards and her feet barely touching the grimy ground. It wasn’t the blood smeared across in her right eye that made her sight blury; it was the tears that clouded her eyes. Tears that meant only one thing – fear.

“Please, please…I’m begging you. Don’t…” she begged while desperately trying to pull herself free from the ropes, which in turn made her gasp in pain.

The unsettling scraping of two sharp knives against each other was the sound of the inevitable – her excruciatingly painful death.

She blinked and stared at her executioner who was expressionless, it seemed as though he had no remorse for what he was about to do. He looked too young to be a murderer. His fine facial features and tired blue eyes could definitely earn someone’s trust in a snap.

Blood was dripping from her forhead, making her feel light-headed and weak. Looking down at the rest of her body and then at her surroundings, she realised that she was knocked out before being brought here – a dark basement covered in plastic – and hung from the wall like a rag doll dressed in a skimpy sailor girl costume, completed with knee socks and black, closed shoes.

“Why me?.... Please… let me go…” she pleaded once more, her blonde hair damp with her own sweat and blood.

The young man slowly looked at her, his beautiful blue eyes empty of guilt and sorrow. The blood splattered all over his white, plastic raincoat. But that hardly mattered since he was certain of what he wanted to achieve – torturing and killing the young blonde.

“Do you know why you are here?” he finally spoke, taunting her while stroking her blood-stained cheek. His voice was soft and calm while he stretched the surgical gloves like a surgeon preparing for an operation.

The girl wept hard as she shook her head. “No…no… I don’t know. I don’t… please…please let me go.”

The guy moved closer to her. “You’re a very brave lawyer, and maybe that’s the reason why someone hates you, Hilary. So much that that person specifically told me to torture you before taking your life.”

“Oh no…no… please…” Hilary, the captive, trembled in terror. “Don’t do this ... please don’t ...”

“Shhh…shhhh…” The guy caressed her shaking lips as the sharp edge of the knife touched her face, sending a shiver down her spine. “Don’t worry. I am quite good with slicing. I’m a professional. Been in this business since high school.”

The girl weeped harder  when she finally realised there was no way out, nobody to save her. Yet she continued to beg for her life. “I’m begging you. I didn’t do anything… Please let me go….”

He moved backward and took a stainless steel scissor and small zip-lock bag from the table where his collection of knifes and cutter were all prepared. He smiled at the shaking girl and yanked a chunk of her blonde hair from the roots, which made her shriek, fresh, salty tears streaming down her face. He observed the chunk of hair mixed with skin and blood before keeping the hair inside the ziplock bag, slipping it into his pocket.

“I’m sure you won’t mind me taking a souvenir to remind me of our first date, right? It’s not like you’ll need it, anyways.” he said, smiling at her. Even his smile was vacant.

He sighed. “Okay, here goes the part that I get paid to play.” He took the gauze pad infused with ketamine and stuffed it inside the girl’s mouth, silencing her.

It was time.

He slowly pressed his knife against the girl’s soft cheekbone. Blood slowly oozed out from the open cut, dripped down her face and onto her chest. She screamed and wiggled, trying to resist but it was no use. No one could hear her muffled screams. Tears slowly fell down her blood-stained face, all of her hope was lost as the executioner worked his way through her neck and down her chest.

The guy’s eyes lit up with a sudden, intense emotion as he admired the stream of blood flowing down her body and onto the plastic wrap covering the floor. He looked blissful and relieved. Another successful and relaxing night for Will Thomas Chase. He knew he could sleep soundly once he was home.
