"Your knife, my back. My gun, your head." -Asking Alexandria

*Alistair's POV*

Pulling Azel back to my car, I drove off as quickly as I could. If I stayed there any longer the man's face would be smeared across my fist.

He had hit him. He had laid his hand on my lover, and in doing so, he might as well have hit me. I couldn't believe this had happened, but what I couldn't believe more is that he didn't tell me.

Neither of us said anything throughout the trip. He just sat there with his eyes out the window while I tried to stop my fists from shaking.

Pulling into a gas station to fill up my car, I walked inside and picked up a pack of cigarettes and some sodas.

After pulling away from the gas station, I handed Azel the pack and pulled a lighter out of the center console. He stared at me in shock for a moment then light one up after rolling down the window.

"How long have you known?" He asked, breaking the silence.

"For a while now. I don't mind it, especially since you rarely do smoke. My only problem is that you tried to hide it."

He lowered his head and turned away from me as I finished my sentence. I was finally starting to calm down, something I know both of us were thankful for. There was no way I was going to risk yelling at him again.

"Why did you keep it a secret, Azel?"

"I didn't want you to freak out, or anything. I always brush my teeth afterwards and chew some gum, just to make sure you didn't find out.

"Zel, that's not what I was asking about."

He fell silent once more and lit up another cigarette. After telling him we would have my place to just us, I told him we can wait to talk until we get there.

Though I didn't live to far from him, I took an extra long drive to get there, allowing him to gather his thoughts, and me to further calm down.

By the time we arrived at Lloyd's house, an hour and a half had passed. Walking inside and heading straight for my room, we stopped short as Pocket came running to the door, and meowing at Azel.

Smiling, he picked up his pet and began to carry him up to my room with us, while Pocket purred loudly in his arms. As the door closed behind us and Azel set the cat down, I sat on the edge of my bed and waited for him to start.

"It happened three days ago. We had gotten into an argument while I was making me some breakfast. He got mad at me for singing loudly, and when I told him to leave me alone he...he-"

His words cut short as he lowered his head. I could tell he was holding back tears, but I needed him to continue.

"My mom wouldn't believe a word I said. She kept saying I was just trying to break up her happiness, and that he would never do that. Then he figured it was okay, and-"

"If you tell me he hit you more than once..."

He fell silent once more, turning his back to me as he leaned against the wall trying to cover his tears.

I could feel myself about to hit the breaking point. As it was, my eyes were already watering due to my rising anger.

Walking over to where he was, I turned him around and pulled him into my arms, holding him as tightly as I could.

His body trembled at my touch. I could feel him shaking against my chest, while his tears soaked through my shirt.

"I still don't understand, why you didn't tell me."

His tears began to fall even faster as my words entered his ears. I could tell he wanted to speak to me about it, but something had stopped him from doing so and I needed to know what.

"Zel, you can tell me."

"I...I didn't want to put you under even more stress, Alistair. You're already worried about that letter you got, and I didn't want to make things worse for you."

"But you did make things worse, love. If you had calmly talked to me about it, this whole situation could have been avoided."

I began to run my fingers through his hair. Partly because I knew it relaxed him, and partly because it did the same for me. Taking him and leading him to the bed, I laid him down and cuddled as close to him as our bodies would allow.

As his head hit the pillow, a huge portion of his hair sat underneath his head, covering almost the entire left half of his face. As another tear left his eye, I stared at him, trying to find out why only one side of his face seemed to be red with tear stains.

Though he tried to stop me as first, I brushed most of the hair that covered his left eye out of the way. Confusion quickly flooded my mind as I noticed a small trail of purple that looked like it was coming from his eye, but never once moved.

"Azel, please tell me that's not what I think it is..."

Another set of tears fell from his eyes, this time creating more purple lines that seemed attached to his skin. I could feel myself shaking with rage as more of the make up he had used to cover up the bruise, washed from his face.

I needed to get away from him. Though there was no chance of me harming him, I couldn't trust myself to be around anyone with as angry as I was. I started to move myself from his arms and off the bed, but stopped short when he asked me not to go.

Turning his head as he spoke to me, any and all make up had washed from his face giving me a clear view of the damage that man had caused. I knew I was about to lose it, that I needed to put distance between me, and everyone in this world, but I knew I couldn't leave him.

Despite my efforts, I couldn't take myself from the bruise that covered every section of his left eye. I needed to calm myself. Before I could make another move, before a single thought raced through my head, I felt something push against my lips, slowly removing everything from inside me.
