I am (Poem)

I AM

I am one of many, belonging to a family, a school, a community.

            However, I am also unique, one voice that can break through the silence.

I am a writer, scientist, believer, or wherever my imagination takes me.

            I am a teacher, student, and friend, depending on where I am needed.

I am one who has been hurt, gone through hard times.

            But these events to not define me. I define them.

I am strong, weak, logical, emotional a person of paradoxes.

            I have failed, I have won, and I have experienced everything in between.

I am a person, an overachiever one who is willing to travel long and hard for my goals.

            No words of doubt, difficulty, or criticism get in my way.

I am unstoppable, a survivor.

            And I am in everyone.
