Evelyn POV
"Alright, I think that's the last of it." My mom said, putting the last box down on my bed with a sigh. "I never remember you having this much stuff before."
"Me either." I said, taking a seat on my beanbag chair and wiping sweat off my forehead, "but it's all worth it. Once I'm done it'll look exactly like my old room."
"Or, ya know… you could always stay at your old room."
"Mom, I thought we already discussed this. I made up my mind about staying here okay?"
"Yeah, okay. But if you don't mind me asking, why is that? I know you love it here, and I'll admit it's quite beautiful, but this wouldn't have anything to do with Derek would it? You don't want to get away from him do you?"
"What? No, of course not! I mean, Derek's great, and perfect for you. Actually the real reason I wanted to stay is…" my voice trailed off, because right then my explanation walked through the door.
"Knock knock." Seth said softly, lightly tapping the door frame.
"Hi Seth." I said happily, noticing right away that he had something behind his back. "Seth, this is my mom, and mom this is Seth, my… uh, boyfriend."
I hesitated at the end. Friend was too light, but so was boyfriend. I would like to say imprint, but my mother had no knowledge of that. And I really hoped it stayed that way.
"Oh, hello Seth." My mom said, smiling knowingly. Now she got why I wanted to stay. "I think I'll go for a walk. You know, take up as much of the beauty here before I go back to California."
She started to head out the door, but then stopped and turned around, giving me a suspicious look, "But remember, your father's still downstairs."
"I know mom." I said, blushing and looking down. She didn't have to worry. No way was that happening any time soon.
She smiled and continued walking, leaving Seth and I alone.
"Um, here," Seth said quietly, pulling out whatever he had behind his back. He held it out timidly, and I let out a small gasp when I realized what it was. A necklace with a small pendant. A sandy wolf that reminded me so much of Seth. "It was Leah's idea. It's like a housewarming gift, from all of us."
"Aww thanks Seth." I said, taking it and holding it close. I unclasped it and put it around my neck. The wolf rested in the hallow of my throat "It's perfect."
"Yeah, well I'm just glad you're staying. So is everyone else. The guys say you make thing interesting, and Renesmee really likes hanging out with you. And I…"
"I know Seth." I said smiling, taking his hand and pulling him closer, "I love you too."
We leaned in closer for a kiss, but when our lips barely touched Angel came bounding in and pounced on us, knocking us over onto the floor. She licked our faces excessively and we were tangled up until Seth finally shoved her off us.
After we stopped laughing we sat on the bed, hand in hand.
"I am still worried though," I started, "that vampire's still out there." My eyes automatically drifted to the crescent shaped scar on his neck. His hand flew up to cover it and he looked down.
"I know. But this time we'll be ready."
"Yeah, I guess. So, is there anything else I should know about? Anything at all?"
"Nope, you already know everything."
He said it with such certainty in his voice that I had to believe to him. "Alright, good."
We leaned in for another kiss, and as our lips touched again, I internally laughed at the words Renesmee had used to describe our relationship before: Puppy Luv. Now that was corny beyond belief.
