*Chapter 3*

Jason smirked.

"Well, if it isn't the girl who refuses other people's help..." he trailed off.

Wait. Did he not recognise me?

"Aw, how cute," Claire, a blondie with purple streaks said. "I think the nerd has fallen for you."

"Not possible," another girl with purple streaks giggled, "she's not into men."

Ugh, the group where everyone had purple streaks, led by Claire who was one of the most popular girl here. But purple streaks? They were seriously not that cool.

I realised my mouth was half opened because I was extremely shocked to see Jason here. I quickly changed my facial expression so that I could stop looking sillier than I already did.

"I was perfectly fine without your help." I stated, ignoring all their pointless remarks. "Now pay attention to what I'm about to say."

I wrote some equations about the blast furnace. I didn't need to look behind to know what people were thinking. I know they probably thought I was geeky, being ahead of class and all. It was not my fault Monty High was advanced, and I took all this last year.

"So does anyone know anything about lime?"

"Yes," Jason replied. "It's something I'd like to put in my food to make it sour."

Giggles spread across the room. This guy might be cute, but he sure was getting on my nerves.

"Jason, stop fooling around. I'm trying to teach."

He shot me a confused face. Oh God, did he really think I was referring to lemons? I smiled softly because his face was adorable. Being the kind and generous soul that I was, I explained it. I had to anyways, to be able to skip these useless chemistry classes.

"Lime as in Calcium Oxide, CaO and is reacted with carbon dioxide in the furnace to create CaCO3, which is limestone. Of course this is after we react coke with air to form the carbon dioxide. The lime is then reacted with silica and sand, to form slag "

People were passing notes and screaming across the room, treating me as if I didn't exist. There was absolutely no respect here. I hated the students here, and I wish I was back at Monty High. I just couldn't take it here anymore. Maybe, I can convince Mom to let me be homeschooled? I felt my cheeks heat up a little.

"Guys, guys, let's settle down and listen to what the cutie has to say."

My heart sank as I heard that. Yui always called me Cutie. He used to pat my head and tell me how cute I was. What was with this guy? He was such a flirt. That liar. I bet last night wasn't his first time in a club. I bet he went countless times and hooked up with girls who he barely knew. Argh, I hate guys like him. However, the class immediately quieted down. Wow, I never thought Jason was this respected.

I carried on explaining about how the iron ore gets processed and the other reactions that take place. I noticed a pile of papers on Mr. Ronald's desk. I guess this was last week's test that he was referring to.

I started handing out the papers. I got tripped three times by Claire and her barbie dolls, and I got about five barfing noises from the guys. What a beautiful social status I had. As soon as I reached Jason, I couldn't help but notice his appalling score. I suddenly remembered his lime statement and giggled to myself.

"What's so funny, Cutie?"

I got agitated (sounds awkward here). I remembered how Yui always hugged me and told me I was funny. Him calling my cutie didn't really make it any better.
