Pretty Scars

I rolled my eyes, stepping out of the car. The instant I was out, the whispers and false rumors started.

"Who is she?"

"Why is she with them?"

"Why did she get out of James's car?"

"I heard that she was a crack head, that's why she's so skinny."

"I heard that she just got back from rehab."

"I heard she is a sex addict."

I started outright laughing at that one. It was amusing that they were just coming up with these things on the spot. And it wasn't an addiction- call it a hobby.

Sarah made sure to keep a fair distance away from me, I noticed, while Emma Rose didn't seem to care that people were whispering and gossiping. In fact, she seemed to enjoy the attention. Judging by her usually shy attitude, she probably didn't get eyes on her often.

I threw an arm around her shoulders, and she allowed me to. Listening to the murmurs, I smirked. "Apperentally, we're a lesbian couple now."

She blushed, forcing a laugh before staying silent. I raised a perfectly drawn brow at her, deciding not to mention it.

Once we entered the school, I let go of her. "Go to class," I told her. "I'm going to get my schedule."

They had already sent be one, but they wanted me to get my final one. An awful lot of unnecessary work, if you ask me. Why not just send one and let that be that?

"Are you sure?" She asked. "I can come with you."

I shook my head. "Nah, I'll be fine."

She looked a little worried, but went to her class anyway, holding her head high despite the gossip. She's progressed in her shyness since the woman adopted me.

"Okay," I mumbled to myself. "Time to find the office."

Finding my way anywhere was a problem for me, being that I'm directionally impaired. This proved true when I found myself lost about five minutes later. Groaning silently, I looked around for someone to ask for help. I spotted some guy getting stuff out of his locker, so I approached him, tapping his shoulder.

He turned around to face me and we both looked each other up and down- him with curiousity, while I was checking him out. He was pretty cute, with black hair and green eyes.

"Hello," I said. "I can't find the office, so you're going to show me where it is." It wasn't a request.

He let out a surprised laugh. "I am?"

"Yes, you are."

He thought for a moment, surveying me, before mirroring my nod. His was in approval. "I think I'm gonna like you, new chick."

He began walking, motioning forward and telling me to follow him. I made sure to stay close, brushing against him gently. When he looked over, I offered him a flirtatious smile. Without a moments hesitation, he threw an arm around my waist. I smirked, though he seemed like a straight boy. But if I was getting laid, what did it matter to me?

Everyone stared at us, new rumors spreading. Damn, I was a slut. First I was sleeping with Emma Rose, now this boy? I had only been here for a grand total of about ten minutes and I already had quite the reputation. I was good.

The guy didn't even notice the gossipers, simply showing me the way.

We came to a stop in front of the office, which I was embarrassed to find was right next to the front doors, where I started. We went inside and approached the hideous woman behind the desk. Had she ever heard of make up and hair product? I held my tongue against a rant about hair care and hygiene.

"What do you want?" She growled at us, sounding like she smoked twenty packs a day. Jesus, lady. If you don't like dealing with kids, then don't get a job at a fucking high school.

I gave her a nasty sneer in return. "I need my schedule."

She rolled her eyes. "Name?"

"Adam Cunning."

She was stunned into silence, as was Jake. My gender was apparently a huge shocker, as per usual. She then gave me a disgusted glare before practically throwing my papers at me. Ignoring this, I flipped my hair over my shoulder and waltzed to the door.

"Fucking kids," She grumbled loud enough for me to hear.

"Fucking cunt." The door slammed behind me as I strode out dramatically.

The guy stared at me, the started sniggering. "That was awesome! Everyone's too afraid of getting suspended to say anything like that to her."

"She's a bitch, so I felt the need to let her know that I thought so." Simple.

"But she's a teacher!"

"No, she's an assistant." I said flippantly. "She's not smart enough to be a teacher and too ugly to be a secretary."
