This poem is about getting over the fear of speaking out and not being shy anymore. Because a lot of people have amazing ideas that need to be heard. :)

Please vote/comment please? It means a lot to me. :) I can't believe 77 people have read this already! ^.^ It's not much, but it means a lot to my low self esteem.. :P <3

I write in the dark,

where eyes are blind to see me,

and my heart beats still,

no fear.

In that darkened sanctum,

my mind,

flutters,

a butterfly,

tossing caution to the wind,

as it floats along the meadow.

In that midnight cave,

I am truly myself.

But when the lights turn on,

my pen clatters

to the floor,

and crawls away,

scurrying under my bed,

far far away

from the realities of life.

In that dim corner of the universe,

it cowards,

afraid of the firey spotlight,

burning across the floor.

Until one night,

as I finish my work,

and the light snaps on again.

I freeze in the moment,

singed by the stares.

I try to hide,

then stop and smile.

The burning spotlight stops to hurt,

a tickle at the most.

And I open my mouth

and speak.

A thousand birds sing

at the melody of my voice,

reading my fears

to the crowd.

And relaxing in the sun,

I start to cheer with the people.

I start to read,

to write,

to live,

in the light.
