Chapter 1
Boarding the train with my pink hand-carry’s in my hand I was not really looking forward to the long journey that lay ahead. I was alone, the way I preferred to travel when on my way to work. In this case was traveling to work, in France.
I'm an assistant research and marketing manager for UK's Vogue. This week I had to travel to Paris for Fashion week. My job was simple. Take a few pictures, get some ideas, and write down a few prices that were about it. I loved my job, especially when I’m given a freebie, that’s the best bit.
I was dressed casually but in style. I mean it would be a disaster if someone that worked for a major fashion brand to turn up in trakies and a sweat shirt, which could most probably get me, fired.
I was wearing tan coloured harem pants, a plain black vest top with an oversized brown cable knit cardigan. I had a light roll up jacket in my bag unsure of the weather that could be awaiting me after the 2 hours journey.
As I entered the train I stored my bags in the storage to the left and then went to find my seat.
On the ticket I was given my ticket number was stated in bold I looked at it 'Seat Number 46' I whispered and turned around realising I was going the wrong way.
I sat down in my seat; there was a table in the middle and 3 other chairs around it, (picture given)
This meant that there must be more than just me sitting here. I groaned in my head, I hated sitting next to strangers, not because I was scared, just because sometimes they can be really loud or smell really bad orrr....
Anyways I sat down and heard an announcement by the train driver announcing that we will indeed be leaving in 2 minutes.
No one came and sat down on my table which was a small relief. I took a deep breath and got into a more comfortable position, I reached down into my handbag which I kept with me and retrieved my copy of 'The notebook' I also got my iPod out and popped one of the headphones in my ear, leaving the other one out just in case, so if someone spoke to me I'd be able to hear them.
It had been 15 minutes since we had left St. Pancras station and Katy Perry 'Thinking of you' started playing, I needed to wee so bad so I got up and tried hunting the toilets down, finally I tracked them down after doing a whole circle of the train I realised they were behind me the whole time, and then I also had difficulty opening the door. :/
After my little toilet trip I went back to my seat and decided to do some actual work. I got out my vogue magazine and a few pieces of paper and started making notes on what and what not to include in the next issue, I still had my headphones in and was listening to a bit of Ed Sheeran when I heard some movement around me. 'Oh great' I thought to myself someone finally decided to sit down in the seat opposite me, something I didn’t really want to happen, as I had left one of my headphones out I heard whoever it was ask if the seat was taken I just gave a simple nod without looking up or giving him any attention. I also repositioned a bit I put my legs (which were sprawled up on the seat) down and made myself look slightly more presentable and more lady-like
I also folded away my magazines and papers and took out my headphones. I laid my head onto the window and closed my eyes attempting to catch up on some sleep. I heard the person opposite me, which I still had not decided to look at clear his throat really loudly. See what I mean about annoying strangers! I decided to ignore it and shut my eyes slightly tighter. That was when HE, (yes I found out it was a he when he cleared his voice) started singing 'ohh dear' I thought to myself. His voice was soft but deep at the same time and did in fact sound good, however I really reaaaaaally needed to sleep! My job didn’t really allow much resting time. 'I’ll give him another minute, if he doesn’t shut up then, I’ll ask him to' I thought. I let a whole 3 minutes go by when I decided enough was enough! I raised my head and screamed at the top of my head "CAN YOU PLEASE BE QUITE, SOME PEOPLE ARE TRYING TO SLEEP"
I looked at him, and instantly recognised who it was.
