Burning Desires (ON HOLD)

spinner.gif

This day, the king and the queen were planning on hosting a ball to welcome the arrival of Princess Olivia. The whole kingdom became busy putting up decorations and colorful lights. The maids in the palace rolled the red carpet, hoisted the crystal chandelier and cooked some tasty food for the guests. The queen told me her daughter would be arriving by three days. I got mildly confused. Why would they prepare three days earlier?

Seeming that this day was meant to be serious, I decided to help regarding the preparations. Jamie, on the other hand, was asked by the queen to help on the stables because the horses appeared to love her as company. Jamie happily obliged and began working.

I was then corner by the king while carrying a few polished plates that were meant to be placed on top of the tables set inside the ballroom. He told me I need to at least perform a small dance in the honor of the princess, since she probably needed some entertainment after a long trip. I asked him briefly when did he knew I’m skilled in dancing. The king just answered me that Aurum told him, and that I was a really talented lady.

“Even if only a single dance, I will be most thankful.” He looked a bit desperate, so I couldn’t help but agree.

“Of course, your majesty. I’ll do it.” I told him.

“Thank you, Shirley. Oh, and try and wear something nice.” He referred to the jeans and a tank top which I was presently wearing.

A faint blush appeared on my cheeks so I gave him a small nod and placed the plates down to their proper places before heading off to practice.

Marie cornered me when I was just about to head out from the door. “Hep! Where are you going?” She asked, blocking my path.

“The king asked me to present a small dance in the honor of the princess. I need to practice and get myself ready.” I told her.

She snapped her fingers. “Aw! I was going to make you wash the dishes!” She whined and stalked off. She then abruptly turned on her heel and looked at me, her ankle-length maid dress flaring around her in the process. “Good luck by the way!” She then skipped out of sight.

I shook my head slightly and trudged aimlessly until I reached my room. I became really upset because I don’t have dancing shoes. The one I used for the ball the last time was Sasha’s, who was actually angry to me because I bruised her beautiful face. I gave her shoes back to her and apologized though, I also gave back the dress.

I got the IPod and the mini speaker—which I kept turned off to preserve the battery (they have no electric sockets in here for charging)—and placed in position so that I can start with a few moves. Before I can even press the start button on my IPod, two, loud knocks came on my door.
