Chapter 14

I opened my eyes to a flash of color, a brightness was emitted throughout the room. I tried to straighten up, but I found that my body was unable to move. I felt a wave of panic, and my eyes opened wide as I tried to take in my surrounding. I slowly craned my head to look around, and felt my whole body heat up. For some reason I had convinced myself that last night was a dream. Everything from the break-in or I guess I should say walk-in since they didn't actually break anything to get in, to Carrie getting hurt, and having Seb crawl into bed with me. The last part was even more unbelievable than someone attempting burglary at house. The only reason I could think of for Seb doing such a thing was that I must have been an even bigger mess last night than I had anticipated.

There was comforting warmth against my body, and I rapidly took in my position. Seb was sleeping flat on his back while I was curled up next to him. My head was lying on Seb's naked chest that rose and fell steadily with every breath he took. One of his arms was around my shoulders, holding me to him, while the other covered my hand that was placed too intimately on his chest. I was embarrassed to see that I had kicked one of my legs up over his, and the other was somewhat awkwardly tucked under his. My head was facing towards the massive window, where the city lights were now replaced with the bright light of the magnificent sun.

Feeling guilty for pretty much sleeping on top of him, I tried to move away, but his arm was heavy, heavier than Chance's ever was. The warmth coming from his body was too addicting, so was the very musky masculine smell that was very signature to him. I tilted my head up to look at his face. A face that looked preposterously blissful in sleep. His long thick lashes were resting delicately against his cheek. Though I don't think I should ever use delicate to describe any part of Seb, even his eyelashes. His coarse hair had curled over his forehead, courtesy of moving around in his sleep. I was very tempted to reach over ad move that hair away from his face but two things stopped me. One, I had already given into that temptation once in my father's study, and he had woken up. Two, he was holding one of my hands under his, and the other was tucked underneath me.

Since I couldn't really move without waking him up, I stayed there, shamelessly enjoying the feeling of his masculine body against mine. His body had changed a lot in four years. He had grown taller, and the hours in the gym had made him stronger, and harder. The planes of his chest were solid, but peculiarly they were also smooth. With my head on his chest, and my ear pressed against his skin I could not only feel, but I could also hear his heartbeat.

Lub-dub...lub-dub...lub-dub...lub-dub...

It was rather soothing to hear that sound, to feel those vibrations that traveled through his body with every beat.

I don't know how long I laid there; listening and waiting, before he woke up. First I had heard the alteration in his heartbeat; it was almost as if it stopped beating for a few seconds. Then I felt his body shift ever so slightly underneath me, and I felt panicked. Not knowing what to do, or how to react, I closed my eyes and tried my hardest to pretend to still be asleep.

I felt him lift his head up and look around that room, then I felt his hand slip from mine until it rested against my arm. He was still for a few seconds before he started moving again. His moments were slow and very controlled as he situated his body in a somewhat sitting position on the bed. I was still under his arm, and pressed against his side though. Once he was comfortable enough he just stayed there like that for a few minutes, or maybe it was just seconds. I started to think that he was going back to sleep when I felt his hand against my face, as he tucked back the hair that had escaped from my hair. I had almost opened my eyes then, and I was afraid he could feel the racing on my heart, especially as I started to feel his breath against the side of my head. I tried my hardest to stay steady, to control my breathing so that it was even. Before I could even think about what was happening, I felt his lips press against my temple. It was gentle, and very quick, if I wasn't so focus on him, I would have never known that it even happened.
