Kim, are you ready?”
She looked up from her laptop, just to throw a wary look at her best friend entering her room unannounced again. “Xian, how many times do I have to tell you to please, please knock on the damn door before you enter my room?”
He laughed. “Sorry, I keep forgetting,” he gave a pretend apology.
She rolled my eyes at him. “What if I was dressing up?”
“Then you should lock your damn door,” he nodded non-chalantly, sitting on her bed. “Besides, it's not like I haven't seen you naked before.”
Her eyes grew wide in shock. “What the heck are you talking about?” she demanded.
He wiggled his brows, chucking. “Eh diba sabi nila mommy, when we were babies, they let us play in just our diapers? O di, nakita ko na.”
“Ulol mo!” She grabbed a pen and threw it at him.
“Aray! Ano ba?” He laughed as the pen hit him smack on his face.
“Akala ko naman totoo.” She frowned, picking up the hair tie on her desk, pulling back her hair up in a ponytail.
“Eh,totoo naman talaga yun, diba?”
“Ewan ko sa 'yo,” She made a face at him even though she knew he was right. She couldn’t attest for the running around in their diapers part, but he was pretty accurate about knowing each other since we were in diapers. Their dads were the best of friends so they literally grew up together
“Hey, Matt's playing too, right?” She asked non-chalantly as she was shutting down her laptop, so they can leave for his basketball game.
He nodded. "Yep. Why do you ask?”
"Ahhh wala naman nag tatanong…” She stopped when she noticed him sniffing exaggeratedly. “Xi? What the heck are you doing?”
He sniffed again. “What's that?”
“What's that what?” She asked, her brows furrowing.
“That smell.”
Kim inhaled, trying to figure out what he meant. “Ano? Wala naman, ah? May mabaho?”
“Hindi. Hindi mabaho,” Xian insisted, standing up, he started sniffing again and started to follow whatever scent he smelled. He then kneeled next to Kim sniffing her like a K-9 dog.
“Ano ba!” She cringed as he put an arm around my shoulder and took a long whiff.
“Aha! It's you!” He accused.
“Me? Naligo ako ha!” Kim whined, pushing him away.
“And obviously, you took a bath in perfume.”
“Ha?”
“You're wearing perfume.”
“So?”
“Akala ko ba you don't do perfumes?”
She doesn't. She'd rather wear light scented colognes unless it's a special occasion.
“That's what you told me when I gave you that Marc Jacobs perfume nung last birthday …” he stopped as if he realized something. “Wait ... are you wearing a dress?” He asked as if it was a big deal.
Kim thought that her best friend was really bad with perfect timing. When she needs him to notice something, he's dedma. But when she's trying to be inconspicuous, he goes noticing every freaking detail. “So what?” She pushed him out of the way as she stood up so she can hide the fact that she was blushing.
“Uhhmmm... Kim it's our regular Saturday-winner-buys-breakfast basketball game ... not something to be all dressed up about ... oh and wear my perfume too.”
“Wait … your perfume?” Kim interrupted him.
“I gave it to you so ..”
“Exactly, you gave it to ME. So it's mine.”
“Well, technically, since I was the one who bought it …”
Kim rolled her eyes. “If you want to be technical about it, then it's Marc Jacob's perfume. The bottle does say, Daisy by Marc Jacobs.”
“Kim, will you just quit arguing with me and let me finish, okay? If I know you just want to change the topic.”
“Eh ikaw dyan ang malabo eh!” She complained.
“Ako malabo? Baka ikaw.”
“Ako?”
“Well, I'm just saying, don't you think over naman ata yang effort mo? It's just a basketball game… teka … you did ask if Matt was playing, right?"
She nodded bashfully, avoiding his gaze.
Xian studied her for a moment then his head
