The door swung open with such force it slammed into the glass cabinet that sat beside it, shattering everything. Screaming I clung to Dominik in panic, my heart just about jumping out of my throat. But, I felt his chest vibrate as a vicious growl tore from him. It sounded like an animal, primal and protective. Something about it made me throb, made me calm. It was the oddest thing.

"You're awake!" Came a familiar screech.

I heard her heels clack on the ground as she made her way to the bed. Not caring at all that we were having a moment or the fact that I was sitting on top of her brother in nothing more than a see through slip hiked up to my stomach, Kana tried to detach me from Dominik. Growling, he refused to give me up, hitting her hands away and fixing clothes so that I was fully covered.

"Back off!" He barked angrily.

"No! Give her over." She hissed turning her hands to Dominik, slapping at his head in a childish manner. "Stop hogging her! I haven't gotten to see her in two whole days."

"Kana, I let you see her yesterday." He argued trying to push her back. But she was like a stone slab, persistent and unyielding. With one arm wrapped around me, he didn't have the leverage to keep her from me. Nor was he really trying. I could feel it in the way he held me gently rather than squashing me to his chest.

"From the doorway! You wouldn't let anyone except the doctor and yourself into the room." She yelled, her frustration evident in her strained voice. Stopping in her caddy fight, she placed her hands on her hip and looked me straight in the eyes. I could I read her like a book. Can you believe this?

"But you did get to see her." He spoke slower as if she were dumb. And her instinct reaction was to slap upside the head. His face went into the crease my neck, hiding from her next attack.

"That doesn't count. You've been in here loving up on her for the past hour. You've also been with her since the moment she went unconscious but all I've gotten in the past two days is a glimpse of her from a few feet away before you slammed the door in my face. You weren't the only one worried!" She huffed as if fire would blow out her nose. I half expected to see smoke curling around her nostrils.

This felt almost normal. Dominik and Kana fighting like the siblings they were. Monsters weren't the topic of discussion or a problem, at the moment. No blood soaked our torn clothes and no dead body's fell by the hand of a bloodthirsty killer. Just the natural bickering of a brother and sister, with me caught in the middle. A knuckle sandwich with a side of Roza. Could there be normality in this world even though it was no longer normal in my eyes? Maybe this won't be as hard as I thought it would be. Maybe everything would be the same.

I almost convinced myself that nothing had changed.

"Mine!" He barked.

"No! Give her! It's my turn!" She hissed grabbing hold of my arm and attempting to pry me from his chest.

Throwing my head back with a laugh they stopped to watch me in surprise. Such a stupid argument, it was funny. It's not like I'm all that special, but here they were bickering and shooting off half heart fists over me.

"Calm down!" I giggled. "Can't you guys share?"

"I don't share!" They growled simultaneously at each other. It made their faces fall into grimaces, also in unison, only adding to their tempers.

My heart was full, full of love and happiness. I had no idea what was to come or what was about to happen. But in that moment, I wished time had frozen.

"I wouldn't either." Purred an unfamiliar voice from the doorway gaining all of our attention instantly.

Looking over my shoulder I found a stunning gypsy leaning against the door frame. Her long slender arms crossed over her supple chest. From her wide hips hung layers and layers of colorful fabrics and beautiful coins to make a wonderful beaded skirt. An elegant rhinestone bra hugged her chest as necklaces and thick bangles decorated her neck and arms. Her silky chocolate curls hung to her slim waist, her hazel eyes shining. Perfect caramel skin made her look so smooth, soft to the touch, no matter how strong and sharp her facial features were. She was absolutely breathtaking.

"Amaria?" Dominik seemed to grow tense with her presence.

"Why hello Dominik." She grinned looking at him hungrily. A strange twist knotted my stomach. "Miss me?"

Who was she? I saw the emotion dripping from her gaze like acid. It ate at my resolve, at my happiness until suddenly I realized just how silly I had been. Not for a single moment has I wondered about Dominik's past. I was so caught up with what he was and secrets he hid, that I didn't for a moment think maybe there was someone else.

It had been so strange how he'd taken me in and dressed up. He's told me I was beautiful and shown me such kindness that I was fooled into think I was the only one.

Foolish is what I was. And as I looked down at Dominik for confirmation, I saw the hesitation in his gaze. I saw him freeze.

And that was all I needed to know it was all just a dream. Before he could move, before he could snap out of it and stop me, I got up and stormed from the room. I didn't care that my feet stung against marble. I didn't care that I was practically naked. I didn't even care that my entire chest felt broken, cracked open by the whip of reality.

It hurt. Oh, it hurt so bad.
