Mr. and Mrs. Saunders thought nothing of it when the door bell rang that night. They had been expecting their new neighbors to be joining them for dinner. When they did open the door, they hadn't been prepared for what met them.

Two strikingly beautiful people flashed glistening smiles as the door opened. The Saunders smiled, more hesitantly now, as their eyes flickered back and forth between each set of disturbingly red eyes. They led the couple into their home and began their dinner. Little did they know, the Vashaswere not hungry for warm rolls and turkey.

As the clock struck nine, the Saunders rose to escort their guest to the door when a wail sounded from above.

"You have a child?" Mrs. Vasha asked, and Mrs. Saunders could not help the shiver that ran down her spine. Something about the Vashas felt off, but Mrs. Saunders forced a smile and nodded.

"Yes, our daughter, Iris, must have woken up from the storm," she explained, unaware of the knowing look passed between the Vashas.

"She has great potential," Mr. Vasha rumbled and the Saunders had to take a moment to compose themselves. They quickly masked their shock as this was the most Mr. Vasha had spoken all evening. What the Saunders did not catch was the second meaning behind such words that would drastically effect the future of their young daughter.

"Well it was a pleasure to have you over," Mrs. Saunders finally announced, releasing the room from the tense atmosphere that had begun to seep into the house.

"Oh, the pleasure is all ours," the Vashas assured as they moved past the Saunders towards the door.

Upstairs in the pink clad room, Iris lay staring at the small mobile containing stars, unicorns, and puffy clouds. Below she heard murmuring before a sudden shrill resounded through the thin walls. Iris blinked uncertainly before a second scream and crash brought her befuddled self to tears.

Wailing, she cried out the few words she knew including 'Momma and Dada'. Suddenly, the house grew still, but Iris continued to sniffle. The roar of wind and rain relentlessly bombarded the small house and Iris slowly let her cries die into small hiccups.

The creak of the door brought Iris' large round eyes towards the side and she gazed as two figures glided in. Small gurgles and hiccups racked the two year olds body while the figures grew near and loomed above the crib.

"I told you I could sense potential power from this house," the larger, bulkier sillought murmured in a medelic voice that slowly quieted the tired child.

"Yes you did dear and now we have found her," the other form sighed happily before gently lifting the child.

Iris blinked at the two unfamiliar faces and shivered slightly under their cool touch and intense gazes. She slowly felt her eyelids grow heavier and finally relented to their demands.

Rodrick Vasha and Tara Vasha smiled lovingly down at the child sleeping peacefully in front of them. They quickly made their way down the stairs, past the destroyed foyer, and out the door, leaving the humans to fabricate a crime to fit the scene.

"Should we change her now?" Rodrick asked his mate when they had made it to the middle of the woods.

"I suppose now is as good as ever," Tara answered, never letting her gaze falter from its focus on the small bundle.

"But what will the Volturi say?" Rodrick began to panic. He had heard many tales of what the consequences of creating an immortal child were and the Volturi were far from merciful.

"They will never know, now quickly! We must change her now while it is still storming and none will hear her cry," Tara hushed him quickly before shoving the infant into her mate's arms. He had much more experience in turning humans than she. After all, he had turned her decades ago.

"Alright," he relented before bending over and sinking his teeth into the baby soft skin of the child's arm.

"Welcome to our world, Iris," was all the startled child heard before the pain began and she shriekedinto the night.
