"I Don't Like Ugly Girls." -On Permanent Hold Till Further Notice

....I'm so screwed.

“That’s not all…Keith came to see me.” I mumbled, preparing myself for Chris’s melodramatic reaction. But she remained completely still and took another sip out of her chocolate.

“What happened.”

I spilled every little detail to her, his explanation, his request…the kiss. When I was done she looked at her cup a sad expression appeared on her face.

“Keith’s parents…they have this plan for him. And everything has to be perfect. Keith never liked that plan so he’d do anything to get on their last nerve. One night stands, late night parties. Anything. He was what people would call a player. But there would come times, usually once a month where his dad would just blow up on him…it never usually ended well. As if Keith’s previous punishments weren’t bad enough. His parents were the best at ruining people’s lives. One time they even got one of his friends sent to jail. Another time he got one of his mistresses parents fired from their job. Anything that didn't fit into their perfect little future set out for their son was eliminated.”

“So…” I whispered. “I guess he cared about me enough to not let something like that happen to me.” I never knew what Keith was going through. He always seemed so perfect, so in control. I always admired that quality of his. Never once did he show any sign of what was going on at home. To think I could have been so blind.

Chris turned to me, her eyes lit up like fire. “He still should have said something. He shouldn’t have hurt you like that!”

“I-I don't know."

My phone began to ring as I continued to think about my predicament. Absentmindedly, I answered the phone

“Hello?”
