Solitary

Via tossed and turned in her bed. She'd woken up in the middle of the night with an urge to go to the bathroom. She kept trying to sleep with hopes of killing the urge, but failed... She sat on the edge of her bed and thought to herself, "Why does it have to be across the hall?"

She pouted and stood up, her bare feet touching the cold dusty floor. She went out to the dark hallway, only the light at the boys' room were on, and walked carefully to the bathroom. It felt like it took hours to get there, the darkness made her terribly paranoid.

Finally, she reached the bathroom door...

Back at the girls' room, LeeAnn was also having trouble sleeping. Later, she jerked up from her bed and gasped loudly. Linny sat up next to her and asked in a sleepy voice, "What's wrong, sis?

She was panting heavily and sweat was trickling down the side of her face. "Dr. Henson..." She said breathlessly.

Before Linny could ask, a scream was heard across the hall. The sisters immediately got out of bed and stormed out of the room. They ran to where the bathroom was and saw a very distraught Via sitting on the floor.

"Via, what happened?" Linny kneeled next to her and tried to calm her down. Via couldn't speak, she had tears streaming down her face. She just pointed at the bathroom door, her hand and her whole body was shaking like a leaf.

LeeAnn went near the door slowly. There was a weird smell coming from the inside which gave chills down her spine. Hesitantly, she peered through the slightly opened door and instantly saw two severed arms on the blood red floor. "Oh my--"

"What's with all the noise?" Jaffer asked in an irritated tone. All the boys were also out of their beds, confused on what the commotion was about. Asher was holding a camera, hoping to document whatever's happening that evening.

Nobody answered... Via was crying in Linny's arms and LeeAnn was still processing whether what she saw was real or just an unfunny prank.

"Well?" The doctor said impatiently. He was getting annoyed at the girls' silence and weird behavior.

"Dr. Henson's dead!" A crying Via managed to shout. "She's dead! She's dead!" She started crying uncontrollably and gripped Linny's hand for emotional support.

Jaffer's eyes almost bulged out of their sockets. "What?!" There was a sudden pause, then he laughed nervously. "Th-this is not funny. This is a joke, right?"

LeeAnn finally moved from where she stood and looked Jaffer in the eye. "I wish it was, doctor..." Her voice was monotonous, she didn't know what to feel about what happened.

The doctor had enough of their behavior, so he stomped his way to the bathroom, with Asher behind him to document everything. "Out of my way!" Jaffer pushed LeeAnn aside and opened the door completely, exposing the gruesome murder of Dr. Henson for everyone to see.

"Wh-what the f-fuck?!" Office Long exclaimed at the back.

Jaffer was too shocked for words. His stomach was churning, he wanted to throw up. Asher on the other hand, couldn't document the scene any longer and started throwing up at the corner.

Everybody was panicking, LeeAnn knew she had to compose herself. "Linny, take Via to the boys' room." Her sister nodded and immediately helped Via up and took her there. She looked at Greg and Keith behind her. "Guys, help Asher out. Make him drink something." They also followed her orders and took Asher back to their room.

 Now for the real challenge... Dr. Henson's body.

Keeping her eyes off the bloody bathroom floor, she went to Dr. Jaffer, who was still staring at the corpse and said, "Doctor, you and Officer Long have to bury her body."

Jaffer's gaze shifted to LeeAnn, there was fear and hesitation in his eyes. "Do you know how difficult to do that? To bury your good friend and co-worker who has been brutally murdered?!" He shouted angrily, tears rimming his eyes.

Officer Long came near him and said, "Brent, calm down. Let's just do--"

"Do what?! What this bitch says?!" He pointed a finger at LeeAnn and stared at her angrily.

"Save the angry remarks for later, Brent. We have to bury this body..." Long looked at him sternly. "Now."

He dropped his angry gaze at LeeAnn and sighed. "Alright." The two men went in the bathroom to proceed with the burying. LeeAnn immediately went to the boys' room so that she wouldn't see the corpse again.

"What the hell just happened?" Via said in a low voice. She was sitting on the bed with her knees on her chest. Her eyes were a bit swollen and, according to Keith, she looked like crap.
