Ch. 1

Lost

I awoke, in a panicked sweat. This nightmare was far too familiar to me. I couldn’t see anything around me, and I was cold. It was pitch black, and I felt pain. I moaned, and felt a hand on my shoulder.

“It’s ok,” a voice said, calmly. I instantly felt relaxed. I turned my head but I couldn’t see anything. I felt arms pick me up, and I felt safe. My head ached, and I couldn’t remember anything.

I awoke again, lying on the ground underneath a tree. I opened my eyes only to see black. My head was dripping with sweat. Panic ran through my body, and I screamed. Not a short, simple scream, but a long, loud scream.

“It’s ok,” a voice whispered to me, and I felt a touch on my hand. Instantly, I saw images of some guy and me together. Images of us hunting, and lying together in meadows. Many images flashed through my head. The pain surged through me, forcing me to convulse. I screamed out in pain and all of a sudden I blacked out.

I awoke again, and this time I could see. It was daylight, and I was still under a tree. The same images that I saw before flowed through my head. That guy I saw. I knew him. His name was Ty, Ty the boy I had known since I was five. Before, I couldn’t remember anything, but now, now I remembered my relationship with Ty. He had always been my best friend.

“Don’t black out again,” a voice teased. I turned and looked up to see Ty standing a few yards away from me.

My expression grew troubled. “Don’t worry, I won’t touch you. We don’t want another black out do we?”

I studied his face, and remembered the feeling his green eyes gave me. I couldn’t recall anything about my past; only the parts when Ty was in it.

          “I’m lost?” I said, confused.

“We aren’t lost, Angel,” he said, taking steps toward me.

          “We?”

“Come here,” he said, gesturing for me to go over to his side. I crawled over to him, being careful not to touch him.

“You don’t remember anything, do you?” Ty asked, looking deeply into my eyes.

“I only remember memories with you and pain.” Ty nodded his head and gave me a sorrowful look. “I feel…different.”

          “I know,”

“What do you mean ‘I know.’ You don’t know how I feel at all!” I said, starting to get upset.

“You don’t remember anything for a reason.”

“Thrill me,” I said, highly doubting what he was saying.

          “You developed this abnormality.”

“What?” I asked, refusing to believe it.

“We were being chased. The government had sent out people to come get you because of your…abnormality. You have abilities that few others have.”

“So when I touched your hand…?”

“Yes, when you touched my hand, you recollected all the memories we had together. The pain is only from the newness of the power to your body.”

          “What are you, a doctor?”

“No,” Ty said with a laugh.

“So what are we doing in the middle of the freaking woods!?”

“Enough questions, Angel. We are trying to find you sister. I’m not sure if she was captured.”

“Why would she be captured? Wait, I have a sister?” Ty shot me a glare.

“Yes, you do. Her name is Stella. They would capture her to get to you.”

          “But I don’t remember her,”

“Angel, it’s complicated, okay. Now I want you to rest so you don’t black out again.” Ty snapped at me, and I curled up to his side for warmth.
