Under the Waves

There once was a town. A simple village, down the street was a large mountain. Atop was the gleaming palace, where the newly-wedded king and queen lived. After a true fairytale meet and marry, Queen Joselin, was impregnated. The King and Queen waited excitedly for their baby. Finally, after nine long months the couple had their child. Though to their surprise, it was not a child, but children. The Queen had given birth to twin daughters. Both had a clump of jet-black hair, both had dark red lips, both had incredibly large blue eyes, and both were tiny little beauty's. They were identical. they had the same birth mark, it was the shape of a butterfly back of their right calf. They cried at the same time, they stopped at the same time, etc. The King and Queen were shocked. This was not good. Their could only be one princess to eventually rule the throne. Only one. The King and exhausted Queen looked at each other, and nodded. They randomly picked up one of the girls. The king cradled her in his silks and took her out back. He climbed down the marble steps, down the opposite side of the mountain. it led off to a small beach with, sweeping willow trees. The water was pure and blue and traveled up the soft sand at a sacred pace. The King, with tears in his eyes, walked till he was waist high in water. With not even a look at his daughter he took a mighty swing. He threw the helpless infant into the oceans. He instantly turned and traveled back up the steps. He walked into the room were his wife lay. He was stricken, crying, and in utter shock. She on the other hand, was content, happy, at the fact of a dead daughter. The king held back his disgust of her calmness. But before he could question it, the Court had rushed in to see the new princess. Her name was Allison, Ally for short.

The other daughter on the other hand, had not a clue what had happened to her. She floated atop the water for a while. Soon after, her weak arms gave and she slowly shrunk. That's when the Queen of the oceans came across this little one. For Queen Alestia had already 5 daughters of her own. For her and her King Triden rulled the merpeople in their home Atlantis. Actually the first to see the girl was the enchantress of the sea. Her name was Furiara. Furiara felt the odd disturbance in the water. She traveled up to the noise. She had a long blue tail that gleamed colors of jewels. Her hair was long, golden, the hair of the angels. She had the voice of an angel herself. With her giant multi-colored eyes she looked at the poor girl. She put her hand on her heart as she looked at the pitiful creature. She rushed to the girl and craddled her in her arms. For she has lived for 500 years, that is enough for her. The enchantress would live forever, her heart beat with the water, not with her body. But it is a law in the universe that to create a mermaid, one must give one. The enchantress looked up at the current, then down at the choking child. She spoke some words of magic. She swirled and spun, though she never let go of the child. She whirled untill her whole form was replaced by a large pearl, that seemed to change colors. The pearl was strapped with a small ribbon and was tied around the girls neck. Instantly the child opened her eyes and felt her feet disappear. They were replaced by a single, tiny, pale pink tale. Over her tiny breasts were two tiny gray seashells. The little girl smiled her first smile. She then slowly closed her eyes, and fell asleep at the bottom of the drifting sea.

This is when Queen Alestia comes in. She happened to be picking rare sea-flowers for her daughters when she stumbled upon the tiny creature. Alestia had long brown hair, mermaid hair. It was beautiful and flowing. She had a tale of gold and shells of silver. Her crown was made of the finest coral and her face, the prettiest, besides of coarse her daughters. She saw the child. It had eyes of the sea. A light, pure beautiful blue. Her hair was short, considering she looked brand new. Though already it flowed with the waves like any other mermaids. Her deep red lips were slightly parted as she breathe in and out. The Queen looked at her and gasped. For she was more beautiful than any of her own daughters. She rushed to the baby. She craddled her in her arms, and examined her strange necklace. She assumed the child was of great royalty and they must've left here to die. Not wanting to let this baby go she didn't even touch it. She held the baby and rushed back to the castle. The king only wanted to please the Queen and too was shocked by the baby's beauty. All the sisters looked at the little in aw. They fought over who would get to hold her first. The Queen laughed and announced the girl her daughter. Her name became Aria.
