I'm Not a Fish! I'm a Mermaid!

Ever's Pov.

From a distance I watched the humans on land. Oh, how I wished to be like them. My father says it's too dangerous on land for me. But lots of mermaids made their journey out of the sea, and nothing in-humanly possible ever happen to them. We sing a special song that only mermaids know and it will transform us into humans. Yeah, you probably think that its just so fun being a mermaid. But you're wrong. I mean don't get me wrong it has some pluses, like talking to fish, swimming really fast, and a beautiful tail.

Anyway, a myth you should know now is that we're all not beautiful, and no we cant attract anybody. We are just like humans in that way. Some of us are beautiful, some are ugly, some are short, some are tall, some are--, well you get my point. I watched in fascination.

This beautiful girl, was picked up by this handsome guy and they spun around, and shared a special kiss, I've never kissed anybody. My little sister Mariana broke through the surface of the water and pulled on my arm.

"Daddy wants you." She said in a voice that meant I could no longer stall him, that I would have to answer him now. We swam down to our down to our palace where my father was waiting on his throne.

"Yes father." I asked, he was strict and I will never understand why he wont allow us on land.

"You will marry Aaron." Aaron being the love of my sister's life. He sets all of his kids up for who they will marry, he thinks his picks are the best for us.

"What? Why would I marry Aaron, when he's in love with Ocean!"

"Ocean is of no concern, she will mind her business."

"No! I am not doing that to my big sister! He's older than me! He's 24 I'm only 19."

"You're marrying him!"

"Ocean loves him, and he loves Ocean. I don't love him, nor do I want to."

"It's final."

"Not for me."

Then I swam away from him, I was angry he couldn't just ruin our lives like this. He thought I was just going to pout like I always do, but no not this time. I swam to my room and packed all the clothes, that looked like they would belong in the human world, also the money I collected, when humans, swam with money in their pockets, or bras. I then wrote a note that said:

Dear Mother & Family,

                    About time you get this I will be gone, onto land, like I've always wanted to. Ocean, I love you and I would never do anything to hurt you, especially by marrying Aaron. I do not love him in that way. I love him in a 'he's my older brother in law' way. I know that you two love each other, no point in hiding it. I love all of you and I don't want to leave you like this, but this is my journey to be a normal human girl, like I want, with a human boyfriend, that I slowly begin to love and want to raise my children with. I will be back don't get me wrong. And I will send letters every chance I get. Just to let you know again I love you all.

I swam out of the window an up till I reached the surface. I was finally going to leave. Where I was going, I have no idea.
