Funny thing about epiphanies, they could change everything. And once you had one, there was no going back.

I lay on my back, staring up at the ceiling in my living room. It was Friday morning and the party had ended a few hours prior to the sun coming up. I hadn't gone to bed, instead, I found myself alone in my father's office waiting for everyone to leave. When it was over I came and lay in the living room, lost in thought.

She had soft skin.

This thought came to me more than once and each time I winced at the remembrance of the feel of her. And then there was the look in her eye when I'd been about to pull her panties down. The total trust and want.

And that's when the fucking epiphany happened.

I hated it.

Chris came into view as he walked into the room, rubbing sleep from his eye. He yawned and went and slumped in the chair across from me.

"You hungover?" he asked.

"Nope." I hadn't had a drink at all during the party.

Chris angled his head and studied me. "You okay? You look perturbed."

I managed to chuckle. "Screwing that tutor really worked out for you, huh?"

Chris smiled and lay back. "Hell yeah. I got like a B+ in English."

It went silent again and I was engulfed in the images of the previous evening. Cree underneath me, gazing up at me, trusting me, wanting me.

I squeezed my eyes closed.

Fuck.

Chris tossed a throw pillow at me. "Hey, you sure you're straight?"

I wasn't. I was completely fucked-up and there was only one thing I really wanted—needed to do.

I sat up and faced Chris. "You should get to cleaning. This place looks like shit."

He smirked and rolled his eyes. "Don't you got a maid for that?"

"Yeah and her name is Christopher Jenkins."

He waved me off. "I'm hungry. I think I'm going to go for a coffee and doughnut run, you in?"

"I can't."

"You look like you could use the caffeine, Dre."

I stood and ran my hand down my face. "What I need right now is to run, for a long time. Maybe even call up Darnel."

"Then do it."

"Can't."

"Why not?"
