Birthday Surprise
Imagine for Kiana
(KianaMosquera)

___

It was a few hours before Logan's birthday party and we decided we were going to bake the cake instead of getting a store bought one. I could've sworn Logan's birthday had already passed, but Austin insisted that it was today. So I just went with it. It sounded like a good idea at first, but mixing Austin with baking is starting to seem like a bad idea.

"Did you get everything?" I asked as I dried my washed hands on a nearby towel, hoping Austin had washed his hands too.

"Kiana, this is the fourth time you've asked me. Yes, I have everything." Austin chuckled as he placed a bag of items on the counter, coming over to kiss me on the cheek afterwards.

"I know. It's just, I don't want to mess this up." I sighed and brought out a mixing bowl.

I waited for Austin to pour the cake mix into the bowl before I cracked the eggs and poured in the water. We couldn't decide who would mix it, we both equally wanted to as much as the other. In the end, I won the privilege to mix the cake batter. We had a series of arm wrestling and staring contests to determine that.

"So I guess this means I'm stronger than you, since I'm the one mixing." I said proudly as Austin sent me a friendly glare. He furiously shook his head and crossed his arms in front of his chest, refusing to admit defeat.

"Never." He growled before stomping away to the pantry to take out icing and birthday candles to decorate the cake with.

After I figured I had mixed the batter well enough, I set the bowl down on the counter to get a tray to put the mix in before we put it in the oven. I snatched the tray from the cabinet and as I turned around, I noticed Austin was unusually close to the bowl of batter. He was merely hovering over it, like there was something inside he was trying to find.

"What are you doing, babe?" I eyed him suspiciously. Who knows what he could've done to the cake batter. He could've put a dynamite in it for all I know. I was never safe when I was with Austin. But that's what I like about it. Everyday was a new discovery. I'm just hoping this one won't blow me up, better worse, blow up in Logan's face tonight.

Okay, I'm overthinking.

"I was just... checking if you mixed it right." Austin answered, seeming unsure of his response.

I cocked an eyebrow at him, but then brushed it off. I knew he was lying but it's nothing to be so worried about. In the end, he'll probably have just poured extra water in it or something. I walked over to where he was standing and slid the bowl over to my side, so he couldn't do any more harm or damage.

"Hey... I want to pour it." Austin whined like a child, dragging out his words. I couldn't help but giggle at how stubborn he could get at such little things.

"Fine. But don't spill it or you don't get any more kisses for the week." I warned him as if I were his mom, poking his nose before handing him the bowl. Austin did a fairly well job, he did what he was told and didn't spill a drop. We had now placed the cake in the oven and set the timer to however long it said on the box.

"Do I still get a kiss?" Austin grinned as he pulled me to him, his back leaned against the counter. I draped my arms over his shoulders and look up at him, his eyes sparkling with hope.

"I don't know, do you want a kiss?" I replied, tipping my head to the side as I awaited his obvious answer. His arms found their way around my back and pulled me even closer to him, so our bodies were pressed together tightly. I felt his hands squeeze my bum softly, leaving them their afterwards.

"Yes please." He answered, a grinned spreading across his face before I planted my lips on his. We shared a slow, passionate kiss, the kind that I love. I wouldn't want to share one with anyone other than Austin. He was the only one who could give me the butterflies in my stomach and the sparks I felt, every time we kissed or when he touched my skin. I had found the perfect one for me, and I love him with all my heart. The only thing I worry about is if he felt the same. What if he didn't love me just as much? I never like to think about it, but I couldn't help but let the thought linger in my mind sometimes.

"Baby, what's wrong?" Austin suddenly pulled away, looking me in the eyes with worry. His hands slowly came up to my face and tucked a strand of hair behind my ear, then started caressing my cheek lovingly.

"Nothing." I tried my best to gain my full self again, before I had began to think about the things earlier.

"Kiana, I know something's wrong. I can tell by the way you were kissing me." He frowned, returning the hand he had on my cheek so both his hands were on my bum again.

I sighed quietly and licked my lips before deciding if I should asked the following question or not. Maybe I would sound desperate or needy if I asked him. Was it really worth it? "Austin," I began, "do you love me?"

Austin's facial expression changed rapidly and I was afraid the answer I had been fearing would come out of his mouth. I mentally braced myself for the fallout, knowing there was a possibility he would say no. "Of course. With all my heart." Austin said genuinely, his words lifting a great weight off my shoulders. A small smile crept onto my lips and all of my doubt had suddenly disappeared.

I gave him two quick pecks on the lips before pulling myself away from him to check up on the cake. As I was bending down to look inside the oven, I felt a body shove them-self into me, causing me to stumble over. "Austin!" I yelped, standing up straight and turning around to face him.

He had an evil smirk plastered across his face and I knew he was taking all of this as a joke. So I decided to throw in my two cents.

"I guess you don't want any more kisses?" I shrugged, walking out of the kitchen. I thought of cleaning up the living room a bit, since a ton of little toddlers would be running around here in a few hours, might as well hide anything that they could hurt themselves with.

I grabbed a pillow from the couch and adjusted its position before doing the same with three other pillows. Seconds later, Austin came trotting into the room and around the couch so he was standing very closely behind me. I didn't need to turn around to know he was in my presence.

"May I help you?" I asked innocently as I kept my back facing him. I felt Austin's strong arms wrap over my shoulders, pulling me into him from behind. He nuzzled his nose into my neck and left a soft kiss just beneath my ear, close to my sweet spot.

I was quickly spun around soon after, to face Austin and when I did, he took that as a chance to back me up against the wall. "What are you doing?" I shook my head and stifled a laugh.

"What about love," Austin sang loudly, "what about our promises. What about love," He continued to blast my ears with his voice.

Five verses later, I finally shushed him. "That's enough." I giggled, putting my index finger to his lips.

"You don't like my singing?" He pouted, pretending to sound offended. I immediately shook my head and readjusted my arms around his neck, my hand drawing circles on the back of his neck.

"Your singing is perfect, babe." I assured him, giving him a long kiss to seal the deal. We both knew we could take this kiss much further, but it didn't last long because the timer went off, indicating that the cake was fully baked.

"Oh crap, the cake." I panicked, hoping we hadn't burnt it or anything. We were supposed to check on it after ten minutes, but I guess we forgot. I rushed over to the oven and opened it, hot air immediately hitting my face. It looked about fine, so I took it out and set it on a mat, so we didn't burn the countertop.

After Austin and I had frosted and decorated the whole cake, I felt like something was missing. It was Logan's birthday, shouldn't it say 'Happy Birthday Logan'?

Austin specifically told me not to put any words on it, but then the cake looked odd. It was a plain chocolate cake with candles. What in the world did we make.

"Are you sure we shouldn't put words on it?" I asked, licking the frosting off my fingers.

"You look so hot doing that." Austin smirked, causing me to blush. I smacked his arm not long after, he could be so perverted sometimes.

The cake looked pretty great, if I say so myself. Well, it looked good for two kids who had no idea what they were doing.

"We make a good team." I nodded, giving Austin a high-five. I slowly picked up the cake and made my way to the refrigerator, so I could keep the cake cold until it was time to bring it out. After that was finished, we still had about an hour or two until Logan and his family and friends were coming over.

___

It wasn't easy handling so many toddlers, but I got the hang of it. There were also a lot of parents, which was kind of surprising, but fine with me; they were mostly family and friends. When it was time to bring the cake, I nudged Austin to follow me into the kitchen to get our marvelous creation. It was left just as I remembered. We carefully brought it into the living room and set it on the table.

"Austin?" Logan pulled his arm, wanting Austin to bend down to hear him. He whispered something into Austin's ear, but I didn't know what. Austin only looked up at me and smiled, nodding at Logan.

I decided I should cut the cake, after we had sung 'Happy Birthday' to Logan, just to keep the kids safe from sharp things. I was just about to cut a piece when Austin stopped me unexpectedly, wanting me to cut the other corner. I raised an eyebrow at him, but shrugged it off and turned the cake around so I could slice the part Austin wanted me to.

When I did, I felt something hard hit the knife. Something that was in the cake. I then cut the other side, so I could put the piece of cake on a plate and as I did, I almost dropped the knife in my hand. A small ring was lodged inside the piece of cake. I slowly pulled it out as gently as I could and examined it. Oh my gosh.

I turned Austin and noticed he was bend down on one knee, right in front of me. "Kiana," Austin began, taking the ring from my fingers. "I hope you know that I love you, because I'm willing to remind you everyday. I can't imagine a life without you, I can't imagine my life without you. You're my everything, and I want you to stay that way. I want to make you the happiest girl in the world. Will you marry me?"

By now, I didn't know what to say, I was stunned. I was in a state of being shocked and trying to figure out if this was really happening or not. Austin just proposed.

"Yeah." I nodded, tears beginning to run down my cheeks. I heard a loud 'awe' come from the parents and that's when I realized it was silent and everyone was watching us. Austin stood up and slid the ring onto my finger, admiring it for a second before sealing it with a kiss.

"I love you so much, you know that right?." He murmured softly as his arms hugged me tightly.

"You already know my answer." I smiled, resting my chin on his shoulder, thinking:

How was I so lucky to find him?

I think we've all waited long enough, I don't know why I put these requests off for so long. Hope you enjoyed it!
