Chapter Two

I woke up in a chair with a killer headache. I saw a nurse talking to Amber.

"Look who's up." The nurse smiled warmly at me.

"What happened?" I asked, touching the back of my head, where it throbbed.

"You passed out." Amber said. That's when all the events came rushing back to me, I shook my head.

"No! It was a dream right?" I asked, desperately. Amber and the nurse exchanged glances. The nurse whispered something to Amber and she nodded.

"Um, Chloe, can I talk to you?" Amber asked. I nodded and we walked out the door.

"Do you remember what happened a few hours ago?" she asked, sternly. 

"Are they really gone?" I asked, hardly above a whisper.

Amber nodded slowly and I pulled her into a tight embrace and cried. 

"Where do I go?" I sobbed, "What do I do?"

"Listen Chloe." Amber said, putting her hands on each side of my shoulders.

"I promise everything is going to be alright. It may seem really shitty right about now, but it will get better." She half smiled.

"Thanks." I sniffled.

"Do you have any living uncle or aunts? You could live with me if you wanted." She asked, turning her head to the side. 

I thought about it for a minute before saying "Thanks Amber. But my mom has a brother."

"Great!" She smiled.

"I've never met him." I whispered. The grin on her face faded. "Is that all?"

"Well, yeah." I shrugged.

"What's his name?" She asked.

"Something Jordan." I said, staring off in space. A couple of minutes later, I said, "Hal."

"Like the superhero?" Amber smiled, "I'll go tell the nurse."

We walked in silence back to the room. "Hey Shannon." She called. The nurse, whose name was obviously Shannon turned around.

"Hello Amber." She greeted warmly. 

I looked behind her, she was starting on covering up the bodies. I winced and Amber wrapped her arm around me, comforting me.

"Chloe has an uncle named Hal Jordan."

"Hal Jordan." Shannon repeated, "Let me look that up."

She walked over to a computer, typed a bunch of things, and nodded her head. "Harold Owen Jordan. Brother of Kimberley Belle Jordan Davis."

She looked up at me to see if that was correct. I nodded my head. "He is currently living in Doncaster, England." She stated.

I quirked an eyebrow, "My uncle? Are you sure that it's my uncle?"

The nurse nodded, "I'm positive."

I snuck a glimpse at Amber. Her expression matched mine.

"So I might be moving to England?" I asked, blinking a few times.

"That's the last bag." Amber said quietly.

"I'm gonna miss you Amber." I said sadly.

"I'm going to miss you too Chloe." She cried.

We hugged each other and wiped away our tears. Amber's dad brought us here along with her 4 year old brother, Daniel.

"You better be a good boy, cause if you're bad you're going to be in deep do-do when i come back." I smirked.

"Don't leave me Cwoe!" Daniel cried, throwing himself at me.

I willed myself not to cry and hugged him back. "I'll be back soon, I promise. I'll send you a letter every day!" I smiled.

He sniffed, and nodded his head. Amber's dad, Jeff hugged me next.

"You be careful okay?" he said sternly.

"Yes sir." I smiled, nodded my head. 

"Call me as soon as you land in England." Amber demanded.

"Okay." I said, blinking away the tears that were threatening to flow over my lash line.

She hugged me again. "I love you Chloe. Be safe. Make sure you don't let anyone take my place." She half smiled.

"No one can." I smiled, hugging one more time before I left.

I waved at them before walking through the metal detectors.

"Flight 89 to Doncaster, England leaves in 5 minutes." A voice called over the speaker.

I grabbed my things and sat down next to a young, handsome man.

"Hi, how are you?" the man greeted.

"I've been better." I shrugged. "How about you?"

"Tired, I have a bit of jet lag. I made it to the U.S. to pick up my niece. But, I have no idea what she looks like. I was told that she had red hair but I haven't seen one ginger." he shrugged.
