There were desperate times, times which led to war which led to massacres. At the beginning of time humans fought and killed to gain wealth. They believed they were superior and did as they pleased. There used to be people who used to live peacefully but greed among those who desired gold and to rule others brought nothing but chaos. If there was once peace, it was gone. People only lived under the rule of those who called themselves gods but were nothing but heartless humans, who cared for nothing but their own beings.
Fear conquered civilizations for years until those above had enough. Eventually war between humans and gods took place, but ended just a year later; humans were no match for Gods. Even if wars and all of that has ended, life is still hard. Kings serve gods but they still do as they please. Taxes need to be payed, it wouldn't be that much of a big deal if it were for the amount. The amount of taxes is great and makes it hard to buy what's needed. Those who don't follow the rules go to jail for that simple reason.
Life was hard for everyone, well except for the kings but it was hard for those who were under the king's wing. All this made it even harder for you, you hard to work twice as hard. Your mother was terribly sick and you had to work in order to buy the medicines she needed.
After a long day of work, you headed back to your house. It was dark already. The streets were almost empty, on your way you greeted those around. Taking a 10 minute walk back home, you finally arrived home. Your mother was outside.
"Oh mother please let me help!" Again your mother tried to do the everyday chores. You had told her not to since she is terribly sick. Grabbing the basket of clothing from her hands you sighted. "Please, I ask of you to rest."
"Honey, I can still help with my duties. Must I not help my own daughter?" She asked in a weak voice.
With sad eyes you looked at her."I understand but you are too weak, you must rest and eat. It has been a long day, look at you. You haven't slept for days." Taking a basket full of clean clothing from her hands and helping your mother, you headed back in the house.
Your house wasn't that big, it was cozy and you were happy with it. It wasn't like you needed or wanted a bigger one. You and your mother lived on your own, so a house with two rooms wasn't that bad.
Just after you helped your mother taking a seat in one of the chairs in the kitchen, you headed to your room and placed the basket on your bed. After being done with that, you headed back to the kitchen and sighed when you spotted your mother getting everything ready to make dinner. "Mother, please take a seat."
She did not turned to look at you. "[Name], please let me help you. You must be tired and in a few hours your heading back to work."
It was true, you were tired but your mother was not in a good condition. "Please I'l-" but it seemed you had a visitor for there was a knock on the door. "I'll go and see who's that."
"Olette?" you asked wondering why your best friend was doing here so late. It was night already.
She smiled and stretched her arms forward, there was a plate of food in her hands. "[Name]How have you been? How did work go? I brought you this."
Stepping aside, you grabbed the plate of food. It was your favorite after all, from the scent radiating from the place. "Come on in."
She smiled and shook her head. "I'll have to get going, I just wanted to bring you some food. You know, you work too much." She pouted.
You smirked. "Thanks, but you know I got to work hard."
With a simple nod she agreed. "Well, see you later and say hi to Mrs. [Mother's name] for me, will you?" and she waved and left.
You shut the door and headed back to the kitchen. Once you were inside the kitchen, you spotted some red roses on the table. "Mother, please take a seat. Olette brought some food." You paused looking at osmthing new on the table." Who brought those roses?" you asked while placing the place on the table. Then you went to get some plates.
Taking weak steps your mother took a seat. "A handsome man, he wished to see you but unfortunately for him, you weren't here. He was upset after I told him you weren't home. Now that I think about, there have been a couple of young man looking for you." She told you staring at the beautiful roses.
