 Chapter 1 - Lily

The deafening crack blasted in my head. Metal screamed against metal and fire radiated around my body. The snapping of bone echoed through my ears making me sick. I opened my eyes and my vision was filled with red. It drips from the roof and pools on the floor. My hand slides across the gooey warm substance; as I look around I see him. In front of him they sit.They look peaceful. As if they are sleeping. I call his name, but the only response is the distant wail of sirens.

“Andrew! Andrew, please wake up!" I am screaming now. “Wake up Mom, Dad, Andrew! Please wake up!"

I jerked awake, sweat pouring from my face, as I heldback the scream lodged in my tight throat. I took a deep breath, then another.Slowly, I felt the knotted tension float away. I peeked at my clock happilyblinking 3:02. Not again! Will I eversleep through the night again? After an hour of tossing and turning I finallyrealized I wasn’t going to fall asleep again. I slowly sat up and rubbed myeyes. I walked into the hall and headed towards the bathroom.

 “Hey.”

I looked up. His blue eyes glowed in the darkness and his muscled arms wrapped around me in a hug.

“Hey Jake”

I'd lived with them since the accident. Child Serviceswanted to put me in foster care, but my best friend’s family wouldn’t have it.They said I had gone through enough. I needed some family and they were thecloset I had. Emily was like my sister, I had known her for five years and shewas the only one who was there for me since the accident.

After three months of living with Em’s family I met Jake.

He had come yesterday and when I saw him my heart skippeda beat. He was so handsome. He had intense blue eyes and was well built. His sixfeet towered over my dainty five foot frame yet I didn’t feel afraid. I knew hewas four years older than me at twenty one because he and Emily were born onthe same day, four years apart.

"Lily... Lily," his voice penetrated mythoughts bringing me back to the present.

My eyes feasted on his thin muscular chest and I couldn’thelp but stare. I heard him smirk. “Like what you see?"

I blushed and my head shot up. I looked into his blueeyes and the smirk fell away to a much more serious face. Jake slowly leanedforward, as if in a trance. His warm soft lips crashed into mine and it waslike bells sang. It’s what every fairy tale describes; fireworks. He pulled back, cursing under his breath.

"I’m sorry Lily,"

His breathing was heavy from the kiss, and I was glad Iwasn’t the only one. I didn’t reply I just crashed my lips back to his. After aminute he pulled away again.

“This is so wrong but... I’ve been thinking about you all night Lily.”

My heart was like a bird fluttering around and tears filled my eyes with awe.

“I-I’ve been thinking about you too Jake,” I leaned towards him but before our lips could meet, he was gone. His smell lingered inthe air and images of him filled my mind as a stood there with my eyes closed,focusing on his sweet scent.

This isn’t good! Ilike Jake, my best friend’s brother.
I am dead meat!
