"Daddy, will you tie my shoe?"
i trip over my own two feet as kid.
"There you go honey, i love you."
"Daddy, i wanna catch a fish, i'm so close!"
i'm wading in fish waters not past my ankle.
"Let them swim between your toes. Now you've got one my little rose."
"Daddy, there's a monster under my bed!"
i clutch onto my covers, shivering in fright.
"Now i'm here, it must have fled."
"Daddy, will you marry me?'
i look lovingly up into his eyes, so naive.
"There's a boy out there for you sweety. Not me."
"Daddy, i got a boo-boo!"
i whimper, tears leaking out of my glassy eyes as blood trickles down my knee.
"Baby, hold on. i'm coming for you."
"Daddy, please don't leave!"
i hang onto his large hand, whispering prayers in my mind for his saftey and quick return.
"Darling, i'll be back faster than you would've ever believed."
"Daddy! Daddy! Daddy!"
i chant, running down the stairs, the first to have him drop his suitcase and swing me around.
"i told you i would be home soon.'
i and Daddy say in sync,
"i love you"
